All I know is that I'm having a hell of time trying to find an Angular developer.

Don’t take your anger out on the Paul Revere’s spreading the truth about the Big V. Take your anger out on those who coerced you, and encouraged you to sacrifice yourself for the globalist end game.
If you want to be able to afford it then I definitely recommend not going into oil and gas. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
I've been getting calls to go back to sitting rigs which means there is a major uptick in activity given I'm likely not in people's immediate memory anymore after 5 years away. The money is tempting but I know it's a dance with the devil I will 100% lose. Whenever I think about moving back to O&G (if it's even remotely possible to get an office job), I'm reminded it's a fool's errand. Those that have their jobs are lucky they have them and they know it. My opinion is that we will see a slow, stay decline in the entire workforce. Why getting into a sector on constant continual decline?
Mining on the other hand is going full tilt. There's more future there as enviro-morons believe it's magically environmentally friendly.

2021 seems to be the year that a lot of the old dudes finally decided to retire. Guys who have been saying "one more year" for ten years are actually hanging them up and that's creating some space in the hierarchy.
Going to be some healthy renewal. But industry isn't expanding significantly.

This is likely due to companies offering early retirement programs. Cuts some costs, and get some of those high salaries off the booksThis quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Whatever the cause, it's a big benefit to the people 10-20 years behind them. I hope it keeps up, as the "great crew change" has been a demographic shift that was supposed to be a huge benefit to people my age.
PetroLMI has been writing about this issue since 2008 or earlier. The downturns have delayed it a few times, but it's gotta happen eventually.

I hope so. But also hope it doesn't kill the business either. For every 1 competent person I know in the 30-40 year group, there are a few incompetent. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
It's going to get messy for sure, but make no mistake, there's a lot of underperformers in the 50+ age bracket too. Some stopped caring, some aren't smart, some shouldn't have been promoted, and a few never adapted to the "modern" business. It's a mix, like every demographic. I have no worries for "the industry". If anything we are getting better are promoting competence.

I saw people get rich in this city and they were convinced it was because they were smart, not because we say a decade long run-up in commodity prices. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

actual footage of the oil and gas sector some years:
I only managed to hit that kind of thing one year. Some folks do it a dozen times and for much larger dollars than mine. I'm jelly.
