Max Fans are those kids you race online who think crashing through the whole pack is a strategy.

There’s actually a rule, hilariously enough created for Hamilton, that doesn’t allow for that coming from Spa 08. Back then there was massive drama because Hamilton was penalized 25s for gaining a lasting advantage, which created the rule AFTER the incident and race. The rule didn’t exist at the time of the penalty. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Even funnier, the rule was not applied when max literally did the same thing and repassed Hamilton into turn 27 after letting him pass.
I think we can all agree Masi ran this race like shit this weekend. Seems like they wanted to engineer tension for the last race. Mission accomplished.
Another interesting note after watching all the in cars, in the final proper on track pass of Verstappen, Hamilton had DRS. Verstappen had derating and lost a ton of speed in T26 while getting a message about his 5 second penalty. That distracted him enough to not defend at all, which allowed Hamilton to pass easily with zero drama.

All of it is a bit of a distraction from the fact that RB fucked up their tire selection as well.
I don't know how this is debatable that lewis ran into max. It's irrelevant if lewis knows max is going to let him by or not. Max slowed and lewis didn't want to pass and ran into him....
I think given the amount of VSCs and red flags in the race, I MAY be possible that he thought it was something like that because it would be weird for a driver to slow down lime that, particularly in that section.

Lewis was in the Safety Bubble. If you are within 2 meters of the car in front of you for at least 200 meters, that car is NOT allowed to brake under any circumstances. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
I heard on a podcast that this is is a temporary track while there is a more permanent track being built somewhere in SA.This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

RB got so lucky with their tire selection though. They don't pit Max, when most of the top 10 pitted and then get a red flag which gave them track position AND a free tire swap. Then when they were on mediums, there were constant VSC's to make their medium go the distance. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Are people debating that Lewis ran into Max? It's clear that's what happened. But that only happened because Max brake checked causing a collision.
He could have passed him easily, but probably thought there was something up ahead because Max was going slowly and was extra careful since Max can be a loose cannon too.

An opinion column. But pretty aptly sums up my issue with Verstappen.

Verstappen and Red Bull risk turning people off with unsportsmanlike antics

I dunno, I think they gambled well. I was WTFing during the race why Mercedes’ would pit. I watched the F2 races and it was clear they needed to red flag for repairs. So RBR made that first red flag gamble work. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
The mediums, they gambled on mediums hoping for another red flag that never materialized. It was the only option they had. Merc was incredible on the hards long run pace. It was evident in FP2 when Ham was 2nd overall on a long run on hards while everyone started quali prep on the softs. The end of the race showed how fast he was with a broken car. Knocking off fastest lap with ease.

The other half of it was max slowing down in the middle of the track while weaving. That’s not something you do to let someone by so with zero information, not surprised at anyone being confused if it’s a vsc, or what. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Qiddiya, figure 8 track. That’s for 2023 I believe. Not sure if they’re doing 2 races or if it replaces this track. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
I really like this track. The race was run like shit tho. It’s scheduled for 2nd race in 2022.

I don't think max swerved all that much. He was slowing down. Lewis slowed down too to stay in the slipstream/drs. Then max, rightly, was like wtf is going on why is he riding my ass.
Lewis had way more ability to have situational awareness than max did.
Maybe rage, or anyone far more knowledgeable than me, but is it normal for a driver who is letting someone pass to go down 5 gears? It seems abnormal to me, but I don't know what the rule is.

Who would have more to gain from both cars being taken out of the race? This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
I don’t think there’s a rule at all for giving positions back. It’s just a race director steward thing. There’s no rules on how to give the position back. Just done safely. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
This is the first time I’ve seen someone give the position back like this. Both times max was near the middle of the track. I’ve always seen it done with the front car on one side of the track. Since there’s no rules, other vague do it safely as per the directions, you can get away with shenanigans.

It wasn't shenanigans. It was Lewis trying to get cute.
You always count on taxes and Buster being delusional when it comes to Lewis. Max is lucky he didn't get more points on his license after his 2.4G "slow down".This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Absolutely. I wish there were some consequences for him for the next race. This just tells him he can keep on making dangerous moves like this and he will be fine. With the additional 10 seconds, he didn't even loose a position. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
