On my calculations for the Rav4 XSE Hybrid ( this was about $49k in 2021). I would only get gas savings after seven years. Thats if I was driving pre-pandemic style every day.
The battery would have to be replaced in seven years anyway.
7 year for gas savings sounds about right. Battery warranty is for 10 years 240k kms. One thing Toyota got right is battery life. The original Prius’s started to see battery failures in statically significant numbers at around the 15 year mark. That’s for a 1st generation battery.

That’s still over msrp. Even more so adding the federal tax credit. But yea, Canada market is worse than US for Toyota hybrids because we’re even more limited in allocations.

Dont Rams have one of the worst resale values with how saturated the market is with them? I mean, its a giant Fiat made in Mexico...

Throughout all of the vehicle shortages through COVID ETC. Dodge lots remained, and continue to remain the fullest of any other manufacturer

Area dealer has a new 2023 MT GR Supra listed at MSRP....well it matches the build at toyota.ca. I thought all Toyotas were selling well above list?

There are actual pictures of the car on FB, so the car is physically at the dealer.
Sure enough, when I reached out a couple days ago they quickly responded. When I said it would be an outright purchase, no BS, no finance, no trade-in they immediately stopped responding

This is the play at some places. They're offering BS discounts to get you into high interest rate loans. It's cheaper to finance for the lowest price at the worst terms then just buy it out

That's what I did when I bought my Supra MT back in April. I just wanted to see if this dealer in Sask that jutes found was actually willing to sell a car at MSRP with no BS

Who gets stung in a situation like that, the dealer or the financing company? Is there any blowback on the customer?

Car loans in Canada must be open ended by law, so there's nothing that can come back on the customer

The dealer probably lose their kickback so could potentially refuse to sell you another car

Financing company potentially get a months interest out of you?

Are there fees, like a mortgage, for ending the finance term early?

That's practically free! Can you string out the payments to 96 months?

@zechs just because you can't find MSRP deals, doesn't mean nobody is paying MSRP.

Everyone goes to Ryan for a reason. He doesn't rip you off.
The conversation was about Toyotas, msrp, and reselling them for low cost of ownership.

Maybe Ryan can get you the primes at msrp, if he can get the allocation. Then its 3-4 year lead time (so you'll need a vehicle in the meantime, which will likely depreciate in value) at which point the market will be seeing some discounts, as a recession is likely in the next 3 years.

It's a stupid argument. You will suffer the cost of depreciating value in some way, shape, or form unless you are incredibly lucky.

Ya'll give Misterman shit for market timing talk, when that's all this circle jerk is but with cars

But then you guys suck the bossman off like he's some genius for stating the same things. EL oh EL
