I personally burn a high blend of potatoes, but my vehicles don't.

We don't burn potatoes, do we?
I feel like I should care about being wrong about that. But I don’t.

Received an email that Calgary co-op is starting to move away from using the Federated Co-op refinery in Regina. This means no more ethanol free 87 octane gasoline. McLean Tr, Dalhousie, High River in a week and other sites to follow.
@Darell_n have you done any recent testing to see if there is any ethanol in co-op gasoline?
Or was that the other thread...?

Not recently. The co-op stations are all transitioning away from Federated Co-op as a supplier so my fleet fuel card no longer works at the locations convenient for me. I only use bulk card lock locations now. It’s safe to say the new supplier will have ethanol in the 87.

Shell is still ethanol free - I tested some locations in the south a week ago.

My carb'd big blocks are still safe.

That's weird. I assume you mean their premium V-Power? Because their regular & mid have had ethanol forever.

    yes, tested 91 premium.

87/89 is peon grade I wouldn't even considering putting in my pressure washer.

Well, Shell is now 10% ethanol.

I noticed in the last weeks they changed the pumps from 87/89/91 to 87/91/93.

I tested 91 and 93 at 4 stations today and they all had 10% ethanol content. Double checked my jerry can I filled up 2 weeks ago and 0% ethanol. So the change to 10% ethanol happened in the last 2 weeks about (for 91+)

Going to test Co-Op 91 tomorrow to see if it's still ethanol free (the sticker at the pump says it is, but we'll see).

Very disappointing Shell is carrying shit gas now.

I don't understand.. I thought tuners loved Ethanol? It has octane and thus knock resistance and a high latent heat of evaporation. Its a free 10% boost in fuel performance.
Downside is lower energy density so your $/MJ.

Can’t believe Shell caved. That was my backup when coop eventually goes ethanol too.

If your car is tuned for ethanol there isn’t inherently anything wrong with it.

But for normal people all you get with ethanol filled 91 is worse mileage relative to ethanol free.

So it’s not free, it costs you 10% more. And your car gets shit range to boot.

worse mileage, acts as a solvent, degrades fuel lines faster, absorbs moisture so you're left w/ water in gas tank when storing, bad for small engines and carbs

This is my worst fear of ethanol for vintage cars, especially on my Mini

Oh man this is shit news to hear. I wonder if they'll still keep their $0.28/L price difference than compared to regular. If so, then I may as well start using Esso as their Prem isn't $0.28/L more....unless somethings changed.

Yeah well I wonder how they get the soft flowing caramel inside the Caramilk bar but you don't see me making a god damn thread about it. Slap your wife Baygirl, straighten him out.

Had this chat with my brother too. Basically have to store the toys empty and fill them up in the spring. This ethanol gas does not store very well at all.

2 month old gas in my Ruckus and it wouldn't start.

The minorly positive news is that some fuel additives like Sta-Bil 360 do appear to work for the short term (4-6 months, forget about longer) .. been watching youtube videos where people test them over a 4/10/20mth interval to see what is happening in the fuel bowls.

Wonder about the feasibility of switching to some VP fuel like C20 - 96 octane, unleaded and oxygenated.
