Fuck we deserved a fun Nashville series… instead we got snooze fest Dallas. Fuck are they boring.
Not the same Flames chokers of the past. Believe in Sutter.
these octogenarians had the same number of points tonight as johnny and chuckyThis quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

They looked sloppy. Passes were off into nowhere, they were disorganized and (literally) running into each other. The first 3 minutes was exciting with the offside goal and chucky going after Klingberg but after that it was a frustrating snooze fest. The only good thing about that game was that Backlund was actually playing awesome. He's been in a slump but I was impressed with his game last night. Now we just need the 17 other skaters to figure it out.
I am glad to see Johnny hasn't disappeared like years past. Sure he didn't play stellar but he didn't shy away from anything and he back checked which is not something we've seen from him in the playoffs in quite some time. If Poppa Suts can get the boys going I think we will still take it to them and then we can move on to more interesting hockey.

It’s Dallas brand of hockey. Clog everything up. Zero shooting lanes. Bore the other team to death, hold on to a lead, and it works. It’s too bad a stupid blind pass turnover in our zone converted on a tip, otherwise we would’ve gotten my moneys worth with 3OT of this back and forth excitement haha.
That said, we did get through past their defensive strategy a few times, just couldn’t convert. Their goalie didn’t have to work very hard last night.

We grabbed a third period snack and drinks thinking that bore fest was heading to multiple OT's.
Flames need to simplify.
Oettinger is a young, confident and talented goalie.
They need to make it difficult for him to see, deflections, crash the net, create traffic and havoc in front of him.
If they give him a clear view, he will stop the puck.
The Flames tried that. The problem was there was 3 stars in front of the shooter, so it'd get blocked before it made it anywhere near the net. It just looked like we kept shooting into Stars players when they were trying it. They tried deflections too, closest was a Magiapane or Dube tip that went wide and high. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
You can screen the goalie all you want, you can't get it to the net with shooting lanes completely clogged up. It works for the Stars, you sacrifice offence with such a strategy, and that's why the games are so damn boring when playing against us who also shuts down 5v5 play well.

Dallas does clog the lanes up well, but the Flames sit there and hammer pucks into shin pads continuously and or miss the net. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Move, skate, open lanes. Cause havoc.
Problem is the Flames tend to give in and play the way their opponents want them to play.
There was one play where the did 2 cross ice passes back and forth with nobody even attempting to stop the pass, and still ended up with clogged shooting lanes haha. I don't think moving the puck any more would've made a difference. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

The issue is moving the puck while staying stationary. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Watch a dynamic team like Colorado, they move CONSTANTLY.
The only way to pull a disciplined positional team out of position is to force them to by moving your feet while moving the puck quickly.
Sutter will adjust.
And the Flames can play a simplified game on the road with no home expectations.
Honestly, I'm not really that worried yet. This team is too good and too deep to not figure out the Stars.
Stars did well at playing thier game, but I agree, not time to panic yet. I still like flames chances.

Best part of the game was the 4 on 4.
Flames can definitely out gun if they can force more 4 on 4's but big risk in getting that.
I hope he adjusts by putting Coleman back on the 2nd and Toffoli on the 3rd... those 2 lines have been garbage since the switch. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
