you dont want to be in negotiations with the ktakuchucks
The Tkachuk's are really easy to negotiate with because their motivations are so transparent. Show them the money or trade them to somebody who will.
It's the guys willing to leave eight figures on the table because of unclear motivations you don't want to negotiate with.

All in all, I'm reminded again how unlikeable hockey players are.
Brady was no trouble at all for Ottawa.
don't you almost prefer an offer sheet. Think of all the #1 picks you'd get for a player that doesn't want to stay in Calgary.
If we’re trading tkachuk we gotta trade him early. No way his production will be anywhere near last years numbers without Johnny.

Johnny on spitting chiclets
Sounds like he wasn’t that hot of a commodity as free agent. Guess time will tell how this all plays out for both organizations.

PAPA Luo already said they never made an offer. As their CAP is worse than Toronto's
I saw he was on it and got excited that we might actually figure out what the hell was going on but then I realized that he's probably not going to say much more than what we've already heard mixed in with a lot of um ahs yea. I fully expect him to imply it was his wife that made the call though. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Also I find it amusing how many Americans and small town Albertan's in the comment sections of posts saying he chose Ohio for taxes "because Alberta/Canada is 33% and Ohio is only 4.8%". Thats not how taxes work, nor are those numbers even close to correct.

To be fair we don't know if he does or doesn't want to stay here. He says he does and he's never us to believe he doesn't want to, but just like we Johnny we don't know the real motivation. The fact Brady stayed with Ottawa tells me we have a pretty decent chance at being a team Matt wants to stay with. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

Americans not understanding how anything outside thier own region works, combined with deeply ingrained American exceptionalism is a powerful combination.

I like Americans and America, but it can be incredible. Although the Canadian inferiority complex is also a pretty neurotic trait.
It's not Canadians understand taxes any better.
Well at least we aren’t in cap jail lol

I bet Brady is pretty happy right now, Ottawa looks like it will be a much better team next year. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Oh definitely. But when he signed for 8 years he was signing to a shit franchise. I guess what I don't understand about the Tkachuk thing is I'm not really understanding where this notion is coming from that he doesn't want to play here? Maybe I missed an interview or something where he said its his dream to play at home one day but besides that is it just the perception that no American born player wants to play in Canada? Or is it that he takes his time to signs deals? Or with Johnny gone do we think that he believes the team will be that much worse? I don't quite understand it.
The same went for Johnny, I tend to believe him that it was a last minute decision to leave and he probably thought he was going to stay but the preggo wife pushed it over the edge. The difference is Matt is smarter than Johnny and he wouldn't sign a salary only deal with no trade protection.

Another lesson learned: don't draft American players.
I think the idea that any player is much easier or harder to deal with than any other is false and insane. Players use leverage when they have it, and rarely consider Canadian teams to be "premium" destinations.
