Here's to hoping both Tkachuk and Johnny regress to 60 point players and are massively over paid.

they were going to be handsomely overpaid if they stayed here, too. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Things could be worse...the team could be moved haha....don't count that out either.
Chucky to Columbus for Laine lol

Calgary isn't a strong market in the end. There are some dedicated fans, just not a huge number. Players dont want to play here. The public (rightfully) doesn't want to pay for a new building. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
If I were the owners, I would seriously consider it.

I think I'd disagree with that. I think the Flames are definitely in the top half of the league for revenue annually. The thing the Flames published showing they were a have-not team took credit for building value which is a red herringThis quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

Flames fans always thing we're a bigger market than we actually are. In terms of reach, the oilers are easily 3-4x bigger even before McDavid. There's very little Flames fans outside of Calgary, aside from ex-Calgarians, and there's no loyalty to the team. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Revenue wise, hard to tell as those #'s are pretty secretive. Our ticket prices are a hell of a lot cheaper than other Canadian markets, and there are a fuck ton of unsold seats every non playoff game, even with a season like we had this year.
I'd say we're comparable to Vancouver in market reach, and probably slightly less in revenue if I had to make a guess there. Basically a small step up from Winnipeg.

Flames revenue is total shit in the Saddledome. If they dont get a new arena 100% this team is sold and then moved.
I'm not sure about the "get a new arena" bit. There is nothing stopping them from building a new arena. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
I love Calgary, and I am a lifelong Flames fan, but it's delusional to imagine we are anything but a bottom-half team for revenue and bottom-quarter for "desirability" for players.

This is very true. When I went to school in sask they all were oilers fans due to the gretzky days. Now they have the McDavid renaissance. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Calgary to edmonton is like... quebec city was to montreal, or ottawa to toronto.
CSEC does not make enough revenue to make it financially viable to build a new arena. You know that. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

Well, I think if there's one thing us Beyond members can relate to, it's being a big deal in our own minds.
No, that was exactly my point. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
The Flames needs public funding to afford a new arena.
The Flames need a new area to stay financially viable in the NHL.
If they dont get a new arena the owners will sell the team and then the new owners will relocate elsewhere.
