We joke, but legitimately it is not hard to see that a VR world is a license to print money when the technology is better. Esports industry is already worth more than NFL, MLB, and the film industry..............combined. If you could jack into an immersive game ala Matrix style, the adoption of this would be insane.

Is this some Tesla math? MLB still pulls in 3x the revenue of global eSport and only USA watches it.

Potential was there until China banned gaming again so it's going to be harder to grow that market.

I haven't cared enough to deep dive on whether all the reporting on it is truthful or not. But here is the first article that pops up when googling it again, which echos the same sentiments I've read elsewhere. Take it for what it's worth I guess.

Gaming is getting close in revenue. With sports teams though, you have have to build and maintain stadiums. The most expensive sport is arguably olympic swimming because you have to maintain and heat a gigantic body of water 24/7.

Cost to maintain VR stadium, one nerd and no recurring real estate cost or parking. Arguably though, you do have to give up beer sales.

Gaming Industry. Then yes. Waifu game like Genshin Impact already clear $1B/year on its own. EA cleared $5.5B last year. Esport is just a tiny fraction of the gaming industry.
