Default East CoAst Canada - Small Towns worth seeing

Going to be doing a big family trip out east. Looking for shit that's not on the normal "to-do" lists. Looking for suggestions in the following three areas:
    1) South of Halifax (Lunenburg, Yarmouth, Digby etc)
    2) Cape Breton Island
    3) NB between Fredericton and Saint John (or with a couple hours drive of that)

Family likes small towns, out of the way stuff, things that aren't busy. You know, living that "ExtraSlow" lifestyle.

Wolfville comes to mind on your way to digby, lots to do around there and the whole bay of fundy thing. Eat scallops and lobster.

For out of the way there is a lot of empty green space south of Halifax that is good for a hike etc. lots of small lakes. Don’t go to Yarmouth lol it’s the red deer of Nova Scotia.

Cape Breton is cool, NB is pretty lame.

Dunno if that was helpful or not? I haven’t been back in a long time. The in laws kindof ruin the experience for me.

Second Wolfville. I don't know NS at all, but when we stayed with family in Middleton, Wolfville was the closest decent spot, thanks to the university I think.

FYI the NB shit is tracing the origins of my wife's family. Gonna send a couple days walking around the forest out there.

I've only been to Tatamagouche, Malagash and Pugwash. All 3 tick your boxes, except they aren't South of Halifax... So I'll need to brainstorm harder.
Tatamagouche is fucking awesome! Slept in a mother fuckin, historic, converted railcar and walked to a brewery.

*Crawled back... I was the Black Sheep in the ghetto, that night. Totally blind sided. I was lame.

I think the premise is once you are there what would you do. Not so much whether you think going is worthwhile.

You can experience the East Coast lifestyle at a Tim Horton's in the SE from about 5:30 AM - 7:00 AM. Don't worry, you'll know they're from the east coast based on their land whale of a wife, multiple stickers on their financed 2021 Ram , refusal to wear a mask, grubby appearance and scent of cheap beer/weed.

get a half decent car for the Cabot Trail on CB. It's a very cool road.

Dancing Moose on the east side was great for food and cabins. The skyline trail is 100% worth it for an easy hike and to stretch the legs.

This is the premise. I am aware that it's not high on many lists, which is why I've made it more than four decades before going.

Spring garden is a decent little pub stretch in Halifax, and I think kids are allowed in bars before 9? Keith’s brewery tour is kindof fun. Can sort of go look at some navy boats in the harbour if your kids are into that.

My wife’s family is into this resort called white point, full of rabbits or some nonsense. She went with the kiddo in august and says it’s a good time? Maybe worth a stop if you are looking for something?

There is a Michelin plant in bridgewater. I think tires are cool.

I think apple picking is a thing in the Annapolis valley south of wolfville.

Btw Fall is definitely the best season.

Came to say Cabot Trail as well, awesome drive and scenery. Get out and do the skyline trail hike. It's super easy, short and great views at the end.

In NB, could check out St. Martin's, if the tide is out, it's decent to walk around the beach / shoreline and check that out.

What’s ironic about the Maritimes sucking?

You know what they say about jokes you have to explain…
