Luckily Val let me borrow her Superduty once in a while, lol.
Did you get the new heatpump sensors as part of the recall? Mine was like that last year, but much better this time around after the fix. I also keep my sunshade in the car for winter, which keeps a lot more heat in the cabin and not sneaking out the glass roof. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
They replaced sensors I still have an issue with my driver's window sealing properly I'm getting wind noise. When I brought it in and they were replacing the sensors they were supposed to be fixing that too but they didn't. I've been thinking about that sunshade as well not only for heat but for road noise.
My window does that too in the super cold. The trick to get it to close is to click it up with the tiniest movements. Two or three very quick flicks of the switch will get it to go up.This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
These sound like great cars.
Maybe Tesla will sell you a branded space heater that plugs into the cigarette socket.
Or a flamethrower.

This thread made me realize that my Jeep costs ~$40/100km in fuel.

Offsets any savings the Telsas give. It's about balancing the environmental impact of fossil fuels. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
You save, I use.
I'm averaging $3.75 / 100km which is much probably more than most. But that cause of the way I drive. If I drove it at what it is rated for, it would be $2.72.This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
I'd have more fun in your Jeep, but most of my driving is now driving the kids around and fun isn't what you want to be doing too often with them in the car.

It's funny to me that people try to save money on long commutes by buying a tesla. What an illogical position.
You $/mile in fuel is probably a tiny fraction of your $/mile in time. Commuting from Canmore for an hour each way is 2 hours or so? I would hope that most people's 2hrs is worth a fuckton more than the tank of gas. People have wacky priorities.
^ It’s one of those areas where people miss the forest for the trees. Similar to the premium vs regular discussion. Some people will spend $100k on a car and then use regular gas when premium is recommended.
$/mile is 1 metric but total $ is also a consideration. For those working from home, $/mile can be fairly meaningless. For the past several years, I buy gas every 2-3 months and can be a struggle to use gas while it’s still fresh. I have actually driven around for no reason other than to burn up gas so I can get some fresh stuff into the tank.
A question I would have if I owned a Tesla is the longer term impact of these temperatures on the battery. Does ambient temperature mean anything when it comes to battery degradation? The colder weather seems to do a number on 12V batteries…

If you make $30 / hour, that's 30 cents per km from Canmore to Calgary. The 100kms costs you $0.12 / km cents if you car gets 9L/100km (at $1.33 / L). Seems like a decent fraction to me.

In my situation, although my mileage is shit, and cost per 100km is high, my daily mileage is low therefore my overall cost comparatively, to the average commute, is not that far off. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
