Previously, in this thread, we talked about how current fleet of Abrams tanks were nearing end of life. Donating those, plus 50% more for "parts" would have been such a clear win for everyone. Then they could have spent that money with the contractors to build whatever next gen tank they have planned.
Net spending would have been similar, but capabilities would ha e increased.
Now, money will be spent to scrap those Abrams tanks, money spent on new Abrams tanks for the Ukraine, and money spent very soon on next gen tanks.
Total outlay is probably 4x when all said and done.
