While west was playing games across different countries across the pond, Russia and China were building. When west was locking in people and printing like crazy, Russia and China were building.

Enter 2022 with max debt, low energy security for west.

Perfect for Putin as he supplies gas for Europe + "free" world is ruled by Biden, Boris, Justin (all with low approvals) = best opportunity for Russia.

So do people care about Ukraine any more than they did about Chechnya?

Personally, I care about anyone who are occupied by external forces. It's just not a condition anyone should be subjected to. Think about what the kids in Syria have gone through? It's just brutal.

That includes places like Palestine, where Western media has turned a blind eye. Though that conflict - while long-lasting - isn't currently anywhere close to what we are seeing now in Ukraine.

I especially care if:
- The country being attacked is linked by geography or ideology to others in the area like Ukraine is to both "Western" European nations as well as the breakaway republics. This constitutes a *required* military response by allies (ie: Canada) should Putin continue his aggressions after Ukraine falls
- The country had no prior beef with the attacker
- The aggressor is the one of the largest nuclear powers in the world
- The leader of the attacking country cannot properly justify his actions... making him an international loose cannon. He also goes against what I believe the majority of Russians actually want - which is dangerous in itself when such a person has no accountability.
