Looks like it. I have a realtor wanting to charge 7/3.5 suggesting they offer luxury customer service - whatever that means. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
That 0.5 roughly translates to 10% increase!!

I did when I sold my house (2016 or 2017?). Listed for 400k and had 20+ views in the first month but no offers (3 year old house in a new development neighbourhood and they could buy a brand new house across the street). This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
We talked about dropping the price by 10 or 20k but instead the realtor suggested we increase the buyers commission by a full % since we can always claw that back if they offer low or put it back to normal if it doesn’t work. A price drop shows on MLS for good. So Thursday we bumped it up an extra 1% to the buyer realtor.
7 showings that weekend, 1 offer early Sunday for 15k under asking. My realtor let the other showings know someone had made and offer and one of them came back making a competing offer for full asking but said they wouldn’t bid any further. So we took it and closed for full asking.
In the end I paid an extra 4k to their realtor from the sale price but I was prepared to drop my price 10-20k. So a net win for me, even if I felt gross giving in to the industry racket.

Lol, realtor logic is always good for laughs.
Sells house over asking: "SalE Prices ArE ALL Up TO mE and HaVE NOthing to Do With thE Market".
Sells house at reduced price: "I HaVe Nothing to Do wiTh SaLE PrIcES And It'S ALl UP to the MarkeT to DeciDE!!"
Both of these statements can't be true, but every realtor trots out this hot garbage over and over again depending on whoever is the current target of their endless gas-lighting.
Dealing with those 1-2% realtors is a pain.
When I bought my current house the seller was using a 1% realtor and the negotiation process was nonsense. Although we liked the house I was ready to walk away just based on the communication and expectations.
The seller even contacted my wife directly through FB which I think is a big no-no. They wanted our realtor to make the same commission as theirs.
It was a mess and not fair to my realtor, but she then talked to her boss about the situation and they did end up taking a bit of an L just to make sure we got the house.
I am still bitter about the whole process.
It I dont golf, where would I find a great realtor?

Do realtors ever tell you what that money is for? When I sold my house the realtor fees were $15k or whatever it was, and there wasn't any explanation of why. I mean I get that it's a percentage and that's the number it works out to be, but I thought it was weird that they felt like they earned that money and never explained how or why.
I have never worked at a job where I could just hand someone a bill for anything, let alone thousands of dollars, and not have any kind of a breakdown on it. Even if it was just an invoice that said "realtor $15k" on it with nothing else written on it, at least that would be something.

Your realtor shouldn't have shown you that house unless they knew they were getting theirs amiriteThis quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
If people have been trained to think that the seller and the buyer aren’t allowed to talk to each other, I’d say realtors are doing a pretty good job keeping themselves employed haha.

It’s always the same joke, but when those people try their hand in RealEstate and realize oh fuck, I can’t sit at my desk all day and surf Beyond and collect a paycheque, then it becomes reality.
