Looking around
Wondering what became
Of what I once knew
If he didn't step down, the party probably splits in half. Unusually selfless move on his part to step down to preserve the party. This also gives the UCP a big boost, they can claim they got rid of the boogeyman that their base thought put in too many restrictions and the others that thought he fiddled while COVID burned.
It was too close. Makes sense that he resign as a result.
Can't wait for whatever doof to take the mantle. Election is years away.
Didn't the NDP say that we'd still be in lockdowns if they were in power?
with it being that close, it was going to be a distraction for years to come if he stayed. IMO, if it was anything less than 65% he was going to step down. if it was over 75% he would have stayed.
This wasn't Kenny making the choice though, this was already taken into account by party leadership, and he knew where the goal post was. 51.4% might as well have been 10%.

I wish we had a system where the voters were accountable for their voting decisions. Let's say for a period of ~4 years and then the voters could have an opportunity to vote again for maybe the same person, perhaps someone else or even someone radically different.
I think that's a better system.
But maybe the best system is one where we could vote 5 times per day. Perhaps a loud bell could ring that would be heard throughout the land alerting us to go vote. And maybe point our bums a certain direction after a quick foot wash during voting?
More is better.

Come on now, you really can't think this? Kenney, as an MLA, represents his constituents just as much (if not more) than he could have as leader. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Being premier is a figurehead position. Yes it has power behind it, but ultimately the MLAs will decide what actually happens.
Considering how rigged this vote was, its an embarrassing blowout. If you don't have your own party backing you to the tune of 70%+ of the base, how do you think you can get other voters to support you?

Who The People voted for is all that matters. The People voted for a party and that party's leader to form a government. No one died in a plane crash and we have ample opportunity to vote in some other crooked bitch after 4 years. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
If they fuck around with who the people voted for after the fact, then I go vote for someone who I think won't do that. That's what I did the last time the Conservatives installed unelected personnel into cabinet positions. (In 2014, Prentice put Stephen Mandell in charge of an $18 billion budget as Minister of Health because feelings).

The people vote for their MLA. They are affiliated with a party (hence why they can floor cross or go independent at any time). The party chooses the leader (usually, I guess. Technically there could be all sorts of ways a party leader is chosen, but generally its by votes of members of said party).
So you are wrong. Sorry. Maybe a remedial civics course is in your future?
Just to clarify how idiotic your concept is, Mandell wasn't even an MLA. This is like apples to shak's flavour of the week car. Zero correlation. Holy shit, I hope you do take a remedial civics course if this is the kind of knowledge of our system the average tard has.

So Jean vs Smith starts?
Is "Remedial Civics" the name of the new car club that meets at Barlow Tims?
You make it sound like the election is a random bucket of independent MLA's that decide to form a party and select a Leader only after they're elected. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
You are welcome to pretend that the members of the party and who they run with as their Leader doesn'tinfluencevirtually completely dictate their voting.
You can make up whatever shit you want, how I described it is the way it is. And your reasoning for not voting conservatives is ultra retarded. You had a Prentice problem (as did everyone else), not a conservative problem. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
