You realize you are talking to the guy who made his own furniture out of salad bowls right?

Most importantly. That a dramatic reduction in quality can be excused for a very moderate drop in cost.

See how many people are willing to pay a months salary for a dishwasher in 2022 and you will have your answer.
i dunno, $35k for a dishwasher seems excessive imo.

Miele's are expensive, but they solve the quality complaint of dishwashers.

My Miele has not broken yet. I’d buy another.

One month of my dividend income should cover it easy.

just got a letter in the mail for 'proactive product service' for Kitchenaid dishwasher that I just replaced the drain pump on, apparently the heater element brass bushing is shit and exposes the rubber washer which then ends up leaking lol
It might be shit, but at least they acknowledge that and are prepared to take care of their customer as a result. Samsung (and others) could take a page out of their book.

Why does every dishwasher look like a 1st yr mechanical engineer final project?
2 cheap pump motors, the flexible drain house is made of worst possible plastic there is. It's not flexible and I bet given hot enough water and time, could melt.
The drain seals look the same as a used 1960's GM coolant hose.
The technology has changed very little and some people have more washing sprayers in their showers today than on a dishwasher.
Our previous dishwasher (forget the brand) sprung a leak, and it was a silent killer. Water got under the ceramic tile, and leaked into the basement. $25k insurance claim. And we only discovered the problem when we saw evidence of water damage up the outside of the uprights on our island. (And ours is finished with a blonde maple... had we had the more trendy dark chocolate look for our cupboards and cabinets, it probably would've been even harder to see). The culprit was a plastic fitting that cracked on the discharge of the fill pump.

We didn't have any problems with insurance during the claim, but I'm actually surprised the insurance industry hasn't pushed for some kind of standards for quality on things like dishwashers, or requirements for some kind of spill containment, leak detection etc. The scenario we had probably happens a lot.

I bet that issue does happen a lot and its easily preventable.

Silly rich people, lino and some proper caulking on edges will prevent a lot of the damage. But do would a rubber pan
