I think it’s useful to distinguish between the different types of dog parks. If it’s a straight up dog park that is fenced in (for example Confluence Park or the fenced area at Sue Higgins) then totally reasonable to expect that only dogs go. That’s the whole point of those. Not sure why anyone would want to bring kids or cats to those anyways…there’s typically nothing for kids to play with and it’s literally grass / dirt with dog shit and piss remnants.
If it’s a mixed area that isn’t fenced off with some off leash areas (nose hill etc) then that’s a bit out of line…cats/kids/other pets are fair game but at your own risk.

Trying to understand where any unwanted interaction between dogs and people are acceptable. (I could care less about what happens in a fenced off dog park.)
As per City of Calgary Bylaw
Under our Responsible Pet Ownership Bylaw:
-Dogs must be under control in designated off-leash areas. This means they must be in sight of their owners and respond to sight or sound commands.
As a dog owner, you must ensure your dog does not:
-Bite anyone
-Injure anyone
-Chase, threaten or attack a person or animal
-Bark or howl causing disturbance
-Cause damage to property or animals

I like neat cars.
At risk of the cat owner, but doesn’t mean responsibility of the dog owner goes away should something happen. Put another way, if you’re walking your cat deep in nose hill in the off leash areas and something happens (like a pitty or GSD seeing your cat and destroying it) then 100% the owner of the dog is responsible, but you took the risk of bringing it into a semi-risky area so you lose a bit of sympathy from me.
To be clear I’m talking about mixed areas with posted off leash signs. A school park for example where there aren’t posted off leash signs is not what I’m talking about.

Yup, and if you’re mauled to death by pitbulls, who were originally bred to bite and hold bulls, bears and other large animals around the face and head……..they were just doing their job. It’s going to happen from time to time. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

Yes much like human laws, where we find serial killers parents, and punish them for raising such a terrible kid. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Yay. Finally we got to the point where we compare kids and dogs.

In my experience, 99.9% of the time I’d rather be around someone’s dog then their annoying kids and I don’t even like animals. Like with dogs there should be designated areas for parents with kids so the general population doesn’t need to deal with screaming and crying and poo smells. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Where do you hang out that you frequently deal with screaming, crying, and pooping done by other peoples kids? Before I had kids of my own, this stuff didn’t factor into my life at all. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
