I assume Smith feels there is more danger to her leadership from intra-party backbiting, than there is danger from Notley actually winning. Classic assumption, really.

    I'm nervous about this.

Covid? Vaccinations? Why is this even a topic right now?
I can pretty well guarantee you Dr. Tam will ask all provinces to bring back masks and restrictions in a few weeks.

I blame all the dummy's who thought Kenney was the worse option.

I can’t imagine just how fucking stupid you would have to be to lose the next election in these circumstances. It's on a silver platter and you just have to STFU for 7-8 months.

But I’m starting to think they’re going to piss it all away with all this rural and anti-vaxx insanity.

I sorta hate to say this, but Smith seems to have more awareness about what's going with covid than beyonders do. Multiple local jurisdictions have brought back masking and restrictions, and some countries are seriously considering bringing them back.

Also, the latest variant, although seemingly almost completely benign, apparently evades all immunity.

Can you list some of these local jurisdictions? Curious to see where

San Diego reinstated it for this school year and then backed off. But it means that they're prepared to mandate it the instant they have even the slightest justification:

By local jurisdictions you mean other countries?

Milwaukee brought them back for buses, woo? Illinois link is about asking people but not requiring.

Similar articles can be said for just about every country in the world including ours, guessing if masks or any other precautions will come back as the media has to drum up turmoil to generate clicks and put something to read out.

Obviously there's plenty of unknowns and anyone can speculate what will happen this fall/winter but I definitely wouldn't say Smith out of all people is in tune more than anyone else, she's fucking small time kook beating the war drum of idiots.

If covid is the only leg she has to stand on, she shouldn't be premier or the leader of any party.

She's seems to want to run her leadership like she did her radio show. Just be a contrarian to get more ratings.

Well you know, the restrictions start out small and then expand. I mean it's a given that cases will rise, there's really no choice in the matter. But there is a choice in how politicians react. It's the latter that you should be concerned about.

I guarantee covid will be around in 7-8 months, and the NDP have stated multiple times that they would've locked down harder, longer and had more restrictions than the UCP did.

This is exactly how this could play out with the fixed election date in the spring. Particularly if say we do get a spike in cases, our hospitals get a little fuller and our counterparts across the Country enact restrictions and one way or another get through it better than we do because we will avoid any restrictions from now on. Flip flopping on restrictions will just make her a female Kenney anyway. This is purely speculation, but it has the NDP salivating because it's one potential path to victory on their part.

I still do believe after looking at the past several election results that as long as the conservatives stay in one party then they have this province locked up at least for another generation.

They're really not going to do better, rises in cases are happening elsewhere because they kicked the can so far down the road that they're experiencing what Alberta had months ago.

Note that virtually all hospitalizations are elderly or immuno-compromised.

This was the case in 2020/2021 and yet they still locked down. Unless you were talking about then and now.

Nearly all deaths are those beyond the average life expectancy too. Wanting to survive a bit longer in a hospital at the expense of everyone else is just selfish.

One of my favourite beyond members said that it was a net benefit to the population if we had a significant surge in deaths of the 60 and over demographic.
That same member said that there hasn't been enough deaths to skew demographics at all. Hardly a speedbump.

    Can't find the post though.
