I've been looking for a 10+ year old truck in various configurations but people are still out to lunch on their prices.

    Search continues.

Trucks are a shitshow, and have been for 10 years, and will continue to be. The floor is help up by the thousands of tradesmen etc who buy any decent used one, plus the strong export market. Honestly, new is a decent value in comparison.
If you have been waiting 10 years to get a truck and still seen to think prices are out to lunch.... perhaps the one that's delusional is you... because that's clearly the actual market.

No where did I say that I've been looking for a truck for 10 years. I said I've been looking for a truck that is 10+ years old...

People are still looking for covid pricing, that market is not here anymore and it's been changing, just not fast enough.

Can't blame people for trying to get as much money as possible but when you see listings that have been active for 90+ days or continuously making new ads for the same vehicle.

Your stuff isn't selling for one reason or another...

Hard to drop below what you owe on an underwater truck.

Never said you did, that's why i quoted extraslow, saying that's been the market for the last 10 years.

Either way, If everyone is asking for the same money and they are selling/not selling, that is clearly the market.

Okay. Group hug, $1 beers, and we're all good.

Yeah Universal ford has been calling me every week for the past month trying to buy my 18 f150. They offered 10g over book value which was interesting offer, the problem is trying to find a new vehicle that is not out to lunch.
Does your truck have really low mileage?

Where are those $1 beers ES?

Since I've been watching, prices have been dropping but not enough for me to pull the trigger yet. For instance, one truck I had on my watch list price dropped from 20k to 13k. If things are not selling, wouldn't you agree that isn't the market?

Regardless, we don't need to carry on going back and forth. I understand what you're saying, it's just not what I'm seeing while watching the last few months.

Those underwater on a 10 year old truck bought it used at 6 years old at 25% or whatever interest rate on poor credit used sales places.

Truck prices dropped a bit Nov/Dec, but they’ve climbed right back up. Seriously, I’d say a solid 10% increase. I watch mostly Vancouver prices, but Alberta up too from what I see.

Truck market went insane over the last 4 years IMO. 10 years ago it was cheap in comparison.

It really doesn't appear to be slowing down. I've been looking at new and used Lariats since 2019. I guess I could loosen my requirements to look for a better deal, but in general seeing used vehicles go up in price over the last few years has been disheartening.

I guess we can all just wait till 2030 and buy an EV right.

    truck prices are stupid.

Just bought a factory order 2024 F350 XLT 613a, with the 7.3L, sport and premium package. MSRP $89,425. Fleet discount $80,450
bought the exact factory order truck in 2023 for MSRP $80,965, fleet discount $72,300
bought exact factory order in 2022 for MSRP $78,840, fleet discount $71,420

having the MSRP go up $9k from 2023 to 2024 is insane.

pre covid was paying $55k after fleet discount for the same package but 6.2L engine

I guess we will never see those prices again because people and businesses are always willing to buy no matter the cost.

Seeing as the average transaction price for a new vehicle in Canada was over $63K last year that doesn't surprise me

here is another insane truck example that I forgot to post up last night.

Thanks to our beyond toyota hook up i bought a 2023 tacoma trd off-road premium in November for $53,544 out the door.

2024 tacoma trd off-road premium now listing on toyota.ca as $65,106 after taxes and fees. Another truck that gets a big price increase this year

It is unfair to compare a brand new truck to one that's 20 years old

I got rid of the truck when we got the van. In hindsight, I should've kept the truck and unloaded my wife's suv. I wasn't looking close enough at the used market before making that decision. Oh well. Like I said, the search continues.

So a loaded 2021 GMC Sierra 1500 AT4 Carbon Edition white w/black interior with the 6.2L and 14X,XXXkms... Basically same as this truck here.

Any thoughts on a genuine retail price in todays market?

Heavily depends on what options it has besides just the 6.2 and CarbonPro bed. General Asking price at a dealer? Probably $47-49k or so, actual sale price at a dealer maybe $45-47k. That’s a lot of mileage for a 21 and fleet white is debatably the least desirable color.

It is pretty much full load with the air conditioned/heated seats etc... All the miles are just commuting miles from Priddis area into Calgary Daily. Not an oil & gas truck etc. Just a personal truck used mostly as a car.

2024 is the new updated model and Toyota Canada had to adjust for our shitty currency exchange. Previously we were getting great deals in comparison to US prices..
