Re the JB4/tune etc, is there any tell tale signs one can check for to see if the car has be de-tuned and put back to factory/stock settings? Of course short of using social eng. contacts and hacks to find the previous owner(s) and dial them up for some intel on the car if it isn't a private sale.
Not really unfortunately, you could always check for broken clips on the connectors to the MAF, MAP, Turbo Speed Sensor and whatever else the JB intercepts.

I joined a couple 911 marketplace groups on FB, and every once in a while something comes up for a palatable price in the USA. Hopefully it's a leading indicator. I just want a 997 S for <$60k, that can't be too much to ask.
Get one in Japan and go through all the BS that I did to get my Cayman S last summer. Just make sure that your broker / inspector does a manifest of all items on board (tools/center caps, etc..) and photos of everything to help you fight the inevitable insurance claim for all the stuff that will get stolen from your car...

despite all that BS I have been checking out few used car sites as well as auction style inventory for a 911 as well.

I found my Cayman on https://www.carsensor.net/ and I had bpro send a local car inspector out to a tiny little porsche used car lot and they bought it on the spot for me.

Nope, my Cayman is LHD and I have full coverage insurance on it which was a bit of hassle to get with submitting photos and a mechanical inspection but its covered. The 911's that I am looking at are also all LHD as are most of the German cars for sale in the used market in Japan.

A brief perusal shows the 911 prices are only marginally better than here, unless I'm missing something. I think I'd rather spend an extra couple grand to be able to see something in person, have it bore scoped on a PPI, etc. I'll probably keep an eye on that site though in case things start to change.

had to scroll through Porsche Calgarys IG but this is my car: https://www.instagram.com/reel/CwNx9...oyeTM2aA%3D%3D

With mine I paid a premium over the auction sites and all of the Bpro recommendations as it was a one owner car that had all services done at porsche center yokohama. The service history portfolio and original window sticker and manuals was also one of the things that got stolen in shipping but hey insurance paid me $250 for it.....

problem is, when you sell... You'll lose more than the savings you've got for getting a jdm car.

We are a month or two away from manufacturer discounts. They are already doing it in the US.

Always hard to time this stuff, but autumn is traditionally when larger discounts show up. And this year may be more discounty than recent years.

    We shall see.

We’re talking about a proper hard side truck camper, but the entry point into a 3/4 or 1T is unbelievable..

    Yeah, do this!

There was a guy on here who would buy older trucks for camping and post mega threads about the search…can’t recall who that was but we need more of those!

I hope you're being purposely ironic, because if not this is great.

I think I remember that guy. Was a huge fan of low-profile tires and thought battery maintenance was useless. He was very fast.

Forget about diesels, buy a big block. Go against the grain.
