Nanaimo has some great bike riding and is a good hub to come and go from the island vs. Tawassen/Schwartz bay. That’s all I got for it. The last time I stopped by to pick up groceries on my way to Cumberland, there was a bunch of people shooting up in the parking lot and another guy taking a shit around the corner. It’s pretty, yes. But dump, for sure.

    Nanaimo is horrendous.
So horrendous that their pathetic City Council ground to a halt over a pissing contest between their pathetic Mayor and some asshole Councillors.
*Segue - Oh and Bill Bestwick lives there. I don't think he could live anywhere else.

Idk, I grew up in Ladysmith but was born in Nanaimo. Is Ladysmith a "shithole" too? Snobby old people and hippies sure. But by and large, it is a fantastic place to live, raise children, do (free) outdoor activities without driving for several hours, natural lakes, beaches etc. The soft water is great and doesn't wreck your appliances or need to be filtered to drink like here.

Ignore the politics, icbc, communist leaning people, vancouver canucks fans, panhandlers etc. Honestly a lot of that weird stuff is part of the charm of island life. You either get it, or you don't. I can't understand why people here get excited about artificial lake homes and why so many office workers drive pickup trucks. People will actually say hi to you walking down the street there unlike in Calgary.

Ahh yes. When a place sucks you just stick your head in the sand and call it “charm”.

    Vancouver Island sucks.

I would have zero regrets never seeing it again.

Haha. That was the term used during the initial wave of the ideal 2010s body

Get a TTRS bro! It’s literally a baby R8. Sounds similar, drives similar and is just downright fun. The Gen 2 (2012-2013) is best imo because it has 6 speed manual but the gen 3 is pretty awesome too.

That’s what I did when I owned an r8. Flawless transition from winter to summer, kept the fun alive.
The R8 is a dream car and the TT has oddly never been because of the shape, the early ones were a bit too bulbous looking. But the newer ones are a bit sleaker which I like, the neighbours have one and it's pretty sharp! Sounding similar to a V10 is pretty impressive, is that the TTRS specifically?

TTRS has a 5 cyl like the original Audis. Sounds heavenly.
