Bro my guy wasn’t dominating before he even entered f1. Schumacher wasn’t dominating near the end of his career. The sport was still enjoyable because it wasn’t always one team or one guy. Even when Merc was somewhat dominating there was still plenty of competition from the likes or rbr. You didn’t see Merc winning 13 races in a row in those years did you that’s because they never actually dominated to the extent the rbr19 is now. Say what you want and enjoy it if it makes you happy watching a re-run weekend after weekend but the stats are quite clear in terms of how much stronger the rbr car is compared to the rest of the field.
Even fucking latifi would be the goat in that car.
God the Lewis and Bottas years were terrible. I pretty much stopped watching F1 during that. Having someone else win for a change is refreshing

I told you this was going to happen eventually.
Bad luck for Piastri ooof
It's such a weird sport for a fan to cling to one athlete/driver for when that driver's success is a function of like 5 variables.
But here we are.
Isn’t that any teams sport? This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Buddy, we said the same thing for years about Ham. Welcome to the other foot. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
We're sorry that Mercedes dominated for 8 years due to having a massive budget, and then when the playing field is evened out they're struggling.
They did 2x 10 win streaks, and had 19 wins in a season (out of 21 races).
I was stoked to see him do so well during Sprint, to see him get taken out like that right away. I was hoping for way more from the Mclarens. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

To be fair, rbr is most likely going to win every single race this year. They’re so far ahead of the game they can turn down their engines for reliability and run any strategy they want. Make a mistake? No problems. They’ll make that up in 4 laps. The closest I can think of this size of performance gap with everyone was the Ferrari 2000s years, and the mclaren late 80s years. They at least have reliability cost them the every win in a season record. I can’t see rbr being stopped.
Mercedes’ closest season was 2016 but the infighting made it sorta entertaining. They were only truly far ahead in the first hybrid season, but reliability wasn’t fully there.
Also, Mercedes budget wasn’t far ahead of everyone. Ferrari, RBR and Mercedes all spent ~450m +/- 20m. The way Mercedes locked in their advantage was that their power train was ahead of others at the start of the hybrid era, and they only supplied smaller teams, and refused rbr their engine. It took a long time for others to catch up on power train. That said, Mercedes wasn’t just about power. By the time other teams caught up, Mercedes was just as good if not better than others on aero as well.

At this point there’s zero chance Max / RBR don’t win both cups so fuck it just win every damn race so we can truly complain about them in the future. It is a shame seeing the rest of the teams all bunching up too. Albon was passing lots but fell apart having to take an extra stop. Alpha Tauri even was up in the points again finally. Really feels like any team can nab points each race and McLaren / Ferrari / Merc / Aston are all contenders for the top 5.
Overall it’s been a great season if you just delete Max
Not really. No one changes McDavid's skates to rollerblades for the third period based on a faulty weather prediction or accidentally gives him a child's stick because of a committee of emotional Italian nonsense. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Yes, the team still matters, but the impact is generally less compared to F1.

Great quali for Albon
Ooof Charles
Fun Quali. Shame about Daniel's luck in practice though...
McLaren & Williams looking strong - hopefully they have race pace to keep it interesting Sunday as well.
Russell and Sainz both looking stronger than they're generally given credit for as well.
Apologies in advance to those in the Grid Rivals pool - I selected VER-NOR-PIA-RUS-ALB so they qualified 1-4 & 8th, my best result yet. It would be amazing if they finish 1-5!
Also, Perez retiring in 2024 to be with his kids. You heard it here first.
I'm surprised everyone went with inters. There was so much talk about the rain being super heavy that I thought the extremes made the most sense.
