It must be hard to cheer for a trash organization with trash fans.
At least as a Flames fan I only have to deal with incompetence.
I have a lack of team sports empathy mostly. Actually, hockey is the only team sport I ever watch. (If I’m interpreting your Millennial-ese correctly, saying I’m in denial)This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

The Flames organization sounds like a group of junior high girls screaming and pulling each other’s hair right now. Can’t think of any team / building / players that set the bar lower. There’s not even future prospect for success in the next 3 years. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

Oddly, I agree with Rage on both his assessments of Edm and Vgk. Nice.
Yes I expected Edm to go farther, but they're still a good team. Like TPiM said, some uncharacteristically strange (poor) coaching decisions about starting goalies and (not) line matching, but I still say that this year's team is better than the team that made it to the WCF last year. Shit happens, ask Boston.
The real shame is that with Boston eliminated early, I figured this was a good year where anything was up for grabs as there wasn't really a definitive favorite. Edm just needed a ticket to the final dance. I was hoping for some revenge over Carolina for 2006.
But gotta say, Carolina looks like a monster. They won't be fun.
A mellow one. Haha. I just love the nostalgia of old school run and gun hockey and being able to share it with my kids, now that they’re old enough to understand the game. I was their age during the Oilers dynasty years and was raised in small town Northern AB.This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Their D isn't terrible, no, but it's not great either. Certainly nothing to mark as a particular strength. Same goes for their goaltending - which can be pretty good, but is terribly inconsistent and cannot be relied upon to win them games. So then if they want to win playoff rounds, they rely on their offense to get the job done. But I think their biggest issue is that they are so top heavy. For times those players are NOT on the ice (which amounts to probably 40% of the game), they aren't exactly a hard team to play against. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. McDavid, Draisaitl, Hyman and NH were the only forwards who actually really drove the Oilers through the playoffs. (Which isn't terrible, as it was only McDavid and Draisaitl previously) Also, Bouchard was the only defenseman who managed to put up a solid amount of points.
That just can't happen, as it's too easy for the opposite coach to place his best defenders on the ice at that time. The better approach is to spend less on your very top players, and filter some of that cap space through the rest of your lineup so you can roll at least 3, preferably 4 lines.
Toronto fell into the same trap. Their top line carried them through early on, but came up dry in the Florida series, resulting in an early exit because nobody else could score enough to compensate.

The guy is overrated. He's geared for beer league hockey, no back check and weak in D zone. I would have sat him unless a powerplay happened.

Everyone discussed the desire to stay and win in Edmonton. It's amazing how drastically different players attitudes are when their not part of the flames organization where players want out.
Guess that's the difference when you enjoy playing for a good team.
They got beat by a mediocre Vegas squad. Don't get too ahead of yourself there. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

I don't know much, but calling them "good" isn't a stretch for either of those teams.
Great? No, not yet. That's still a ways away. But I don't think the "good" part is that inaccurate.
