I would like to congratulate the Oilers for entertaining me through the winter up to the start of beautiful outdoor weather. My evening couch hibernation has now ended and my Spring metamorphosis is complete. If you want to carry on and win the cup for your own liking, please do so. I will try and contain my mild annoyance of watching you play your game into June.

It would appear they had no desire to continue. Victoria park golf course is very nice right now, and I believe they wanted to partake as soon as possible.

Exactly. Not starting Campbell and stacking 97 with 29 on one line shows uncharacteristicly poor coaching. This was a series where goalies were irrelevant and starting Campbell was an easy choice, but instead they just let a rookie get shelled and pulled repeatedly. Very very poor.

Their "40 shots" tonight was exactly like Calgary constantly getting 40 shots. Who the fuck cares about 40 shitty shots?!? Vegas clogged all the lanes and rushed the point all night in the last two games. Nurse being out in the last game << Peitrangelo being out and they fucking had no excuse for losing Game 5.

It isn't, though. They have mixed lines a lot and had great success. Jay kept playing "the hot hand" long after the hot hand cooled down. Dry was like -7 in the last critical push. Fuckin see that and respond. Instead, "just keep trying the thing that worked a few games ago". That left Kane and Nuge with garbage chances, exactly like Calgary. "Yay, we must be doing good because 65 shots...". No, your shots are shit from valueless perimeter. You are fuck."
Same thing with goalies. Just keep starting the rookie when you could've easily reached deeper into the bench. Jay can't coach in deep, complex games. He blew this, hard and he's a far better coach than this, so it's hard to believe. There's no excuse for Edmonton to not make the 3rd Round.

Have you watched the Knights play this season? Or last season? They're basically the Flames but with better goaltending and less fluffy shots. They're hardly playing as a team, aside from a few moments of brightness.

The oilers problems are not in net. I mean, a better goalie helps for sure, but goaltending didn't sink that team. Inconsistent play, nearly zero defense.

First time watching a long stretch of oilers hockey, and I'd argue their defence is not terrible. They're fast, they're aggressive with stick/holds in a way that doesn't draw penalties so they're pretty good at stopping momentum when their D is hitting the right marks. There's a bit of chaos to it that makes it hard to predict. That chaos comes from undisciplined and poor plays and creates inconsistency. Sometimes it works extremely well, sometimes they get caught with their pants down.

I still don't know how their offence works. Again, it's a lot of chaos with not a ton of structure but somehow it's pretty fucking deadly. They somehow have a knack of never letting the puck out of the zone, always bouncing somewhere within reach of someone.

Chaos is the right world for both ends of the ice. I'm not a strategy expert, but that seems like it cannot be the defensive plan.
