    I like the "It's 2023 bro" comment.

I'd still appreciate hearing how a kid decides their non binary and where this comes from. This is a decision the kid wants to make so where is the influence coming from?
It's social contagion, despite the vociferous attempts to claim the opposite by the wokies.

This will be my last post in this thread, said my piece, if nothing else I wish ES the best for his kid.

But the left wing nutters on here, hoo boi. Some transwomen got their panties in a bunch

I get neg repped for using "chink", despite the fact that I am a chink.

I think a lot of people in this thread don't understand non-binary and conflate it with trans or same sex attractions.

Non-binary can simply be: Your daughter keeps getting told -she- is just a girl and should be home playing with barbies rather than playing with the boys. So -they- stop wanting to be identified as a girl as they want to play in the same activities as the boys and treated the same.

It can be simple as that. But many adults are set on blowing it up into a big deal and act like their kid is going to run to the doctor and demand a genital change.

Reddit is for porn and product reviews only. Everyone knows that. My comment was directed towards the extreme sides some of the replies in here have with zechs being one of them for sure. I think regardless what "side" you're on, summarzing what he seemed to do through ES's original post is a bit outlandish.

I also 100% disgree with you that it didn't exist or wasn't a problem 20 years ago. People strugging with who they are has always existed, it was just a lot more represed or hidden out of fear of retribution. How many kids do you know got beat up for "being gay" because they might have done something that someone preceived as soft or feminin like wearing tight pants or sucking at sports? I got called gay all through highschool because where I grew up that was the worst thing you could be, one day a group of older kids called me a homo and it stuck for the next 6 years. I don't even think I knew what gay was the first time I got called it much less had the capacity to act in any sort of sexual way, straight or otherwise. Throughout the next few years I had my vehicles vandalized and was jumped despite the gayest thing I ever did in my teens was enjoy a little chocolate milk with my burger instead of pop or listen to Nickleback. I am sure it didn't help being a red head, but if a kid who was actually gay/trans/non binary (which I admit I don't actually know what that is) sees a straight kid going through that hell because another group of kids preceived them as something different then what they are then they will never feel comfortable in ther own skin. So maybe yeah, it could be a function of feeling safe identifying with a group of people even if deep down they aren't "that" but thats something that the parents need to help them navigate understanding that it could come out either way.

I will agree with you that its gone to far to the extreme on the other side though, but society currently is unfortunately filled with extremes. The government's approach to Covid is a huge one: you were either a brainless sheep or an inbred redneck, no inbetween. I think the general approach here should be not to get too wound up over things that don't effect you (like pride month), or obvious jokes. If its a topic that does effect you (such as OP) then no one knows better how to deal with your family than you.

But maybe I'm just a big gay liberal cuck

The only issue I have with this statement is it actually DOES affect us all.
Right down to fiscal or monetary policy of the government.

Example: Why is the government spending $1.5 million in taxpayer funds for "security" for the pride parade?
Did they provide the same security for the truck convoy protesters? Other major protests?
Different ideologies, but why is one more valid than the other?

At the end of the day both groups have the same message, "we want to be heard, we want to be recognized, we want our freedoms to be granted".

Why do we even celebrate pride for an entire month?
Do we celebrate Jewish history month?
    Indigenous history month?
    Women's rights history month?

Why is pride specifically so important?

Morgan Freeman said it best when asked directly about "Black history month".
He essentially said "I don't want black history month, its division... My history is American History".

As I said earlier in this thread, my gay friends don't even celebrate or WANT Pride month OR the Pride parade, they flat out say its embarrassing and sends the wrong perception and message.
Just to add to Vengie's post.
It does have a massive implication on our society.

The issue is not if someone is gay or dresses like a man/woman. That is not new and existed for centuries.
It is the complete rejection of the scientific basis of ones biological gender. Especially as a child. Where is the root of this coming from in the current context?
Government going after a persons genitalia is not a new issue. In India back in the 70s'. Socialist prime minister Indira Ghandi introduced sterilization for population control.

It has other implications. How does a doctor or medical professional administer drugs in a emergency? I was talking to a pharmacist friend about this. They need to know if the person is a male or female. It has profound implications.
How does a EMT deal with this? This video with Matt Walsh highlights this.

I'm sorry your family is going through this ES. I hope your kids are able to find peace in all the noise.

When I was a kid, I heard about karate from a friend and wanted to give it a try. Occam's razor - external influences and an innate desire to belong & define themselves. We've been wired this way since we left the great plains.

    You're*

    *From your rep.

Watching Pavel Bure during the 94 playoff run got me interested in hockey, I wasn't even 10 at the time. That probably set the stage for me becoming active and involved in sports throughout my life. Influence is absolutely a factor.

You seem to be conflating tomboy with nonbinary in this scenario, no? Nonbinary is typically a deliberate effort to outwardly visually appear as a "between" gender, rather than being specifically related to gender-specific activities (though not exclusively so). It has more to do with how one looks than what one does. Mae Martin would be one such example.

It's a distinction without a difference. In other cases people making choices of expression.

I’m pretty content thinking that non-binary means somebody who doesn’t like math

There are a number of factors on why I choose to not have kids these days and I have to admit that ignorance on these subject matters has been bliss.

It’s anyone that doesn’t want to be referred to as a male or female. It doesn’t have to accompany any visual differences.

Saying they "don't want to be referred to" is quite different than making the claim the distinction doesn't exist.

I'm going to respond to this because you are such an insufferable cunt, I was showing Beyond who the retards were who'd neg rep my opinion. Currently sitting at 2:1 green to red reps for this but I have zero need to give you guys cannon fodder for your lunacy.

Someone has to speak out against the groomers, society has done a great job of scaring people into silence.

I am one of the people who gave zechs positive rep for what he said.
There was nothing infactual with what he said. In fact I give him credit for being the alternate voice in a discussion like this.
If you're so emotionally invested that you are personally offended by an alternate opinion you should perhaps look yourself in the mirror and seek to understand and alternate opinion to yours. Perhaps you'd learn something in the process to alter your perspective, or further strengthen it.
We as a society have been groomed to be afraid to stand out.
If you try to bully someone into being an echo chamber are you any better than what you're "standing up" for?
Could he have use more tact? Sure. But so be it.

Lol, yeah because stating stuff like "Acquiescing to your child's silly daydreams..." sets a great tone on the topic of providing guidance to a child

Zechs would do himself and everyone a favor by making his point without the use of histrionics.

    There are two problems:

    1. We do a poor job of managing the mental health of puberty age kids... Especially girls
    2. The Religion of Woke is encouraging the idea that latent, previously unrevealed and widespread sex and gender issues are a (the?) root cause of these mental health issues. This is a major problem as it promises relief but is really snake oil like any other religion. Furthermore it layers on another complication that frequently needs to be addressed later.

Unfortunately if you don't simply comply to #2, you are labeled a heretic, neg repped and told the proper course is blind "support".

A parent's role is to support. Yes. But it is also to lead and to guide.
