Implosion unfortunately was the best outcome (if that's what happened) since they didn't have to suffer a slow death.

I get the whole 'play stupid games, win stupid prizes' and 'rich assholes bored, so deserve it' mentality, but ultimately human lives were lost and it sucks for them and the families they leave behind. Regardless of personal feelings about the whole thing, it still sucks and is an unfortunate loss of several lives. RIP and make better decisions in your next lives.

Only limited parts of your body are compressible (your lungs primarily). The rest of you is mostly water already. My guess is the grossness would come from either a) heat from the rapid compression of gasses or b) simply mechanical tenderizing from inward flying carbon fibre.
