    Christopher Hitchens says it best

They can't get a two-state solution because from the beginning, from 1967 onward, all the Arab leaders in Palestine have rejected it, despite it being offered continually by Israel. It's even official Iranian and Hamas policy to get rid of Israel, which, by extension, also means all the Jews in the area.

Israel unilaterally pulled out of Gaza in 2005.
I think you misunderstand the conflict if you think Gaza is what can barter peace in the area.

Something likely of more consequence is the hundreds of thousands of jews who are 'illegally' in the west bank.

you used the word occupation, though...which is not the case in the current area of conflict.

Tough to take a strong stance for either side in this one. Hamas are clearly terrorist pieces of shit that need to be dealt with, but reading / watching about Isreali occupation of the area it's pretty tough to tout them as 'good guys' either.

Seems like one of those situations that won't ever be resolved unless one side is completely wiped out. Sad all around.
This is my take on it as well. It's been going on for so long, and has spanned generations, so it's difficult to stop the momentum of hatred. Both sides feel they are in the right, but both are actually in the wrong. Isreal has a checkered past, which Western media and politicians would like us to forget since they are our "ally". But the fact is, they really did the Palestinian people dirty - who have good reasons to be pissed off. Then when they rose up to try to fight for their homeland, they were stifled and their territory shrunk down to a tiny fraction of what it once was. Call them terrorists (because they are) but it was pretty inevitable Hamas would incite violence as Isreal continued their campaign, and while I'm quick to condemn large-scale violence, I think it at least has solid motive.

With that said, attack military installations if you must, but mass killing any citizen you can find (including women and children) had no possible outcome other than massive retaliation from Isreal. I'm not really sure what Hamas felt they would accomplish, other than forcing their early retirement to sleep with virgins. But, here we are...

Reporting now that the hospital was never hit at all, just a parking garage. No fatalities.

Can’t believe anything you see or read on the internet.

There could be peace if they actually chose to, but my honest opinion is they don’t want it.

They are fucking brain washed by their fucking archaic beliefs.

What if they attacked Men & Elderly instead of "Women & Children"?
Don't they got all the equalities over there? Next thing you'll be telling me they expect men to change the water cooler jug in the office?!

Would this be your honest opinion or the realtor in you's honest opinion? There's bound to be a big discrepancy.

Blow up of the Twitter pic Jutes posted below. Funny how the Palestinians/Arabs have claimed there were 1000 people sheltering in the parking lot, and 500 worked in the hospital". Um, ya, look at that lot and all the cars in it - how the hell do you shelter 1000 people in there. Plus the videos clearly show that the fire didn't really do much to the hospital itself, it was mostly localized to this lot, as the picture shows. I'd wager the actual casualties were in the double digits, and not even the high double digits.

With other ISR evidence as well as Hamas' own intercepted comms claiming it was an errant rocket, not a bomb - I don't think anyone outside the radicalized world is going to believe the "Israel did this" narrative. I got kicked off the local AM radio station in SK, 980 CKRM, their host is always Captain middle ground, and I called him out on it today based on his "there are many undecided on this issue out there, Palestinian supporters have there side and evidence, blahblahblah". He didn't like me doing impressions of his own talking points verbatim from today and earlier all that much I guess. I know right, turning 50 and calling into AM talk radio, wtf...life is nearly over.

Our illustrious PM was quick to denounce Israel in the house, all from information he got from a Hamas statement.

The issue is, while ancient Israel changed hands under different groups, such as the Assyrians, Babylonians, Persians, Greeks, and Romans, they held much more territory than they do now, including the West Bank. Jews have lived in the area for close to 4,000 years, in greater or lesser numbers, depending on what was happening in the region. As far as I can tell, the Jews lost their land with the occupation of the Ottoman Turks, until WWI put an end to that. Then other countries decided who got what. The "Palestinans" only got the West Bank because Jordan held that territory and it wasn't given to the Jews when Israel was to become a nation.

The language of illegal occupation is actually nonsense, given the history.

Because he has to be the first to virtue signal. I wonder if he will be as quick to apologize and denounce Hamas/Islamic Jihad for firing rockets from within civilian populations. I'm not going to hold my breath.

What of my two points exactly are you arguing?

You either disagree with my statement denouncing Hamas (doubtful) or think the Isreali's have been good stewards of the Palestinians in Gaza (only other option)

Yea pretty much. UN wrote a report in 2012 about Gaza being uninhabitable by 2020... an outburst like this shouldn't be a surprise.

In the end, this is true. If only Britain was at good as exiting their colonialism positions as they were at grabbing them in the first place! haha

Will never happen, they can’t coexist, if they haven’t been able to figure it out by now, it will never happen.
