People keep pointing to things like middle management (which will totally go down with four central administrative bodies), but the main reasons why Alberta is #1 for helathcare costs is pretty darn simple: Province with the highest paid people also has the highest paid health care workers and as the fastest growing province needs to spend more to keep expanding service.

When those things change, it'll slide back down the list.

But the push to more private services will just drive those costs up. Just like how the US spends more public money per capita on healthcare than we do. It's a feature, not a bug. Cronies gonna get paid!

you're going to be back there in 5 years for maintenance/repave anyway.... So you spend twice as much intiially to make 4 lanes, and go back in 5 years to repave all 4 lanes (not to mention all other maintenance at twice the cost for that 5 years... snow removal?)..., or you start with 2 lanes, and go back after 5 years, repave that 2 lanes, and add 2 more when it's actually needed.... IDK what this has to do with healthcare, but it seems logical to me.
