Humid box you use sparingly out in 30 below temps.

In our climate I’d say it needs to be indoors.

I'm looking at an indoor one.
Let me know what you find.
I would love an outdoor wood fired type sauna, even a shitty barrel style one.
Tap, Rack, BANG!
Best buy had some crazy black Friday deals on saunas.
My inner Finlander has wanted an outdoor, wood-fired one for a while. I would not put one indoors because of the humidity issue
Would love to have one but in my area, I'd find Dirty Mike and the Boyz partying in it.
Someone I know did one at their cabin. Barrel kit and built a small deck and shower area off it. Looked good.
Get it warming for a few hrs. Sealed fireplace in there so no big risk of a fire.
Make sure you have a small cold air intake and vented properly.
Ive got a pretty good space in the backyard, but think i'd lean electric just so i can turn it on via wifi on the way home from the mtns.. many thoughts to think..
I'm a huge proponent of infrared saunas.
We plan on doing an outdoor one eventually at the acreage. Wood burning for sure. My parents have a large electric one in the basement currently, but nothing beats the smell of burning wood. I personally was thinking of a smaller wood barrel looking one, but wife wants one made out of a container....something like this, so that's something we will strive for. Back in Siberia, when I was small, it was common to go into an outdoor Banya (basically same idea as Sauna, but wet vs dry), and after getting warmed up, you run outside and jump in the snow! Feeling is amazing! Then you run back into the sauna. Can't do that in a house. My parents jump into a cold shower...but it's not the same.
Now that’s an art room.
Buddy has a place on the river in Bowness with a large backyard and installed one that looks like barrel with plexglass on the ends so he gets a nice view. Seems like a pretty sweet unit.
Seems like the barrel ones are 'nifty', but also pretty low quality (no insulation, drains, etc) vs the DIY shed builds. Have been going down many rabbit holes on this.
My dad built his own sauna in the basement, it's really pretty easy, as I helped him with it twice, he took it apart when they moved to a new place and reused it in the new space. Insulation, some foil barrier, and then those slotted thing wood planks to cover up the walls. Construction of one is very easy. Could probably buy a pre-made shed, create an insulated base to set the shell on, and then insulate it and you would be golden. Unless you are planning on having a ton of water in there, a drain isn't really necessary. My parents never had a drain, just left the door open once done to dissipate moisture. It's like taking a shower, it just becomes steamy, but isn't enough to require a drain. They always have a grated floor so that they walk on the wood, and air can circulate around on the floor to dry out. Most of the moisture is from the sweat, or from throwing water on the heater, which steams things up.This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Ya think it depends on how you want to use it. I know everytime ive been in an outdoor sauna, there is a lot of water used that ends up at the bottom.. nice to have the ability to hose it out for a good clean if needed.
fuck me I am craving a sauna now. damnit.
Tap, Rack, BANG!
Kinda want to build one next to our stream room and accidentally build into half my wife’s walk in closet.
Soak in the steam, dry in the sauna. Stink your way to the beach
You guys are nuts. You'll use it once and be done.
It's called an executive workout and is supposed to be good for you.

I definitely don't steam as much as I had imagined, but still use it twice a month or so.
A dry sauna would be nice. I've never used an infrared one before, but my infrared heating pad helps with muscle aches a lot.

Back when I worked for a country club oil company, I used to drive to work, park in my heated underground parking, do 20 minutes of stretching in the company gym, shave in the shower, and head up to my desk for 7:30 AM to eat some breakfast. No shit, other managers and executives were complimenting me on "my excellent morning routine" and "discipline". it was incredible. If you look like you are eating a post-workout meal at 7:30AM, the C-suite loves that shit.
