Default Old Bars off of Crowchild Trail NW???

Kinda fits under food and dining but also entertainment, so general it shall be.

I was yapping with some nerds and they were yapping about old bars they used to frequent in the NW. As Beyond's average median age seems to be 45, maybe some of you old balls can help remember the clubs/bars names? We were talking about bars on or just off of Crowchild NW:

I remember there was a joint called LaJoyas (Sp?) in Varsity on the corner of 53rd and Crow.

Then there was this cowboy bar right behind Brentwood Mall where the Petro Canada used to be - they had a boxer short contest thing on Thursdays when contestants would strip down, get voted for free drinks.

There was a also a club across from McMahon Stadium where the Vietnamese restaurant in the same strip mall as Big T's BBQ.

Do you guys remember those names?

    Thanks

Yeah well I wonder how they get the soft flowing caramel inside the Caramilk bar but you don't see me making a god damn thread about it. Slap your wife Baygirl, straighten him out.

Uncles Eddies was the name before it was Latoya's, I think it was Yucatan across from the stadium.

Rattlesnake Saloon seems to ring a bell for the western bar.

I did not know about Uncle Eddies before Lajoya's, that's great info. I was 17 and used fake ID to get into Lajoya's right before they closed that joint off. Yucatan's I think that's it, thanks!!! I remember driving to back of that strip mall and being able to park on the roof back then. Don't know if it's like that still.

That western bar...yeah maybe rattle snake??? But thanks for the 411.

I remember Lajoyas. Went there a couple of times after high school. Do not remember Unwinders though. I do remember a pool hall across from McMahon stadium though. I forget what it was called.

I didn't start drinking in that area until I was nearly 20. Mostly just got drunk at Max's lounge or the Engg Lounge

Billy McIntyres was at Brentwood. The one at varsity was Bugaboos in the long demolished hotel. There was also Yucatans as already mentioned.

The Inn On Crowchild (Varsity) was Uncle Eddies then it turned into LaJollas and finally Bugaboos (Bugaboo Creek). That's if my old brain remembers correctly. I had my first legal drink at Uncle Eddies in 89 and played a lot of pool in the back room area.
