I saw online (unverified) that the dogs were Cane Corsos. If true, fucking hell.

This has been confirmed. By the sounds of the article that was posted it almost seemed as if the boy, who was from Osoyoos, was visiting his dad (owner of the dogs). He went into the house after going to the store for a treat and the dogs attacked him when he let them in. The dad was in the garage at the time. The same article also said that another woman was attacked there a few months earlier by the same dogs.

The solution to all of this is not difficult:

1. All dogs must have technology implanted which can be scanned by NFC to identify the owner. Not present? Dog is immediately destroyed. No exceptions. No appeals.
2. If your dog bites/harms/aggravates/threatens/kills, the registered owner attached the NFC is charged with the relevant crime, treating the dog as if it were a weapon like a knife or a gun or a brick.

I think that applies to any mammal. My young kids are certainly more psycho when together vs on their own.

The pack thing is real... I don't think so much more about bonding but more to do with that primal instinct to turn up the intensity. They get each other going whether it is play or aggression. That is why it is important with all dogs for the human to be the pack leader. Too many idiots let their dogs do as they please without controlling them and being the boss.

I didn't even know what a Cane Corsi is until this happened...how the fuck are these dogs even allowed in this country? Fuck them and fuck their owners too....absolutely no one in our society has a valid reason for owning one of these savages.

The real problem is there seems to be no appreciable consequences for owners when poor drooling life decisions inevitably go sideways.

Why is there seemingly no political will to charge the dog owner? Or the dad for negligence after this incident?

A fucking child is dead, does this not merit some investigation and punitive action?

Why would anyone be deterred from making future terrible choices if we don’t inflict a pound of flesh from these people when the worst happens.

Those dogs have been put down. He *was* fine with them, said they cuddled with his son on the couch all the time which is why it was so surprising, and he said while there's obviously tension in the relationship now he's not angry with his roommate (who owned the dogs) about the situation.

At least thats what I took from the press conference. That was a tough watch, couldn't imagine walking in on that sight.

Edit although now I see that the boy was just visiting the home so no idea how that "cuddling every day" could be true. That changes everything. An outsider left unattended in the house with these dogs was a non-zero chance that something bad would happen.
