I was just thinking this was probably the most likely scenario. Its instilled a deeply rooted hatred for both dogs and peanut butter.

I think dog attack numbers are skewed against pittbulls simply because there are more pittbulls than any other breed, in the USA especially, and since they make up most of the dogs, they will also make up most of the attacks. If German Shepards were the most common breed I am sure they would make up most of the attacks as well. That's simply a numbers game. Couple that with the type of people that think of a pittbull as a weapon and essentially raise them as such, it has led to a genuinely unfair reputation being associated to the breed.

This said, they absolutely need owners who are entirely responsible for their ownership. I do not believe they bite more than any other dog, but there is zero doubt they can do some of the most damage, especially in a pack. If you own one and are careless and they attack someone you should 100% be on the hook and the dog destroyed. It breaks my heart to see any animal suffer because of human stupidity and irresponsibility, but in the end no matter what, if a dog is a known aggressive unprovoked attacker, it needs to be euthanized.

It's definitely not a numbers game. A Shitzu is more likely to bite/attack, but if it does, I'll boot it clear out of our atmosphere, not report it, and move on with my day. If it's a Pitbull, I'll have a legit fight on my hands to at a minimum not be disfigured for life.

Completely honest question... you were hammering on the dog's muzzle and it did nothing. What is a better way? Gouge out it's eyeballs? Kicks targeting their kidneys? I've heard of sticking your finger in the dogs buttoned but I don't want to do that ever lol

Yeah I assume bad scarring. Facial scars, etc.

They should make the owner put the dog down. Maybe if they did this, people would think twice about going out and getting another one.

That would be a pretty light sentence. There's lots more dogs out there. Dog put down, owner cannot have another is a starting place. Actual criminal charges should be a possibility.

I meant literally make the owner take it behind the barn and shoot it.

But yes, they should 100% be prohibited from owning more dogs, and be charged criminally.

Toronto resident Patrycja Siarek, 38, has been charged with one count of criminal negligence causing bodily harm. She is also facing one count of failing to muzzle a dangerous dog and one count of allowing a dog to run at large under the municipal code, along with two additional charges under the Dog Owner's Liability Act.
The charges have not been tested in court. Siarek is scheduled to make her first court appearance at the Ontario Court of Justice on Monday.
