I have less an issue with this dog or that dog being “allowed”. That’s some Karen nimby nanny state shit.

The real problem is there seems to be no appreciable consequences for owners when poor drooling life decisions inevitably go sideways.

Why is there seemingly no political will to charge the dog owner? Or the dad for negligence after this incident?

A fucking child is dead, does this not merit some investigation and punitive action?

Why would anyone be deterred from making future terrible choices if we don’t inflict a pound of flesh from these people when the worst happens.

Exactly this... People need to be legally responsible for their decisions and 100% dog ownership should be encompassed by this.

Nowhere should life be a 100% guarantee of safety because if it was then we would all just live in bubble wrapped pods, but 100% should individuals should be responsible and liable for their own actions, or lack thereof.

That being said, we'll never have another Corso...they're a LOT of work and training, the wife went to obedience classes for about 9 months with him and we still do a lot of the things the guy taught her to make sure he stays in line

I don't get why people that walk their dogs feel entitled to have them off-leash on pathways where it is not off-leash area. I was jogging on the pathway and this off-leash dog kept chasing after me with the owner trying to catch him. It's so annoying, I had to yell at him to put him on a leash to which the owner responded sorry. What rights does a pedestrian have? It seems useless to call by-law as the person would be long gone.

This is a huge issue for other dog owners as well. My dog gets stressed around strange dogs, and I walk her on a leash, and make sure to give most dogs plenty of room. But during the summer, at least once or twice a week some fucking dog comes running out of an open garage or a backyard or somewhere and gets up in my dogs' face. I think that's a big reason why my dog is now much more defensive around other dogs. So I actually resorted to buying a bodycam that I wear in the summer when walking my dog because I don't want some fucking irresponsible owner blaming me if their dog runs halfway down the street to us and then gets bitten.

If a dog is off-leash in a non-off leash area, and it's chasing after a human or another dog and the the owner cannot call it it back, then it's uncontrolled, which is already illegal. Snipers seems like a fair solution. one round for dog, two for owner, fuck em both.
