I like how you can use your phone to handle smoke in the kitchen. And obviously notify you if it detects anything and you arent at the house. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

Picked up a bluetooth OBD reader on Prime days, to connect to my Android head unit.
There's a LOT to play with, but I'm excited about having a lot more information available in real-time than the car originally shows. Especially out in the middle of nowhere when you can keep an eye on things and hopefully prevent trouble before it starts. I found out after this pic was taken it even has pitch and roll indicators.
I didn't know this was even a thing...Very cool
Me neither, but when I found out about it I had to try it.This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Most bluetooth readers have their own app, which I could also download to my Android head unit, but the head unit came with a program called Torque pre-installed which was designed to connect to a variety of readers and show this very thing. You can still search and clear some basic errors, etc, that you would do with a regular OBD2, but the real-time data was what I was looking for out of this one.
But even without an Android head unit like this, theoretically, you could get a bluetooth reader, install it's own app on your phone, and probably show some gauges and dials through Apple CarPlay. I might try that with this same reader on my other car.
I've been using the Torque app and a cheap BT OBD reader for ages, it's great for diagnostics. The ones that do ABS/SRS tend to be more $$ but I've never need it yet.
I also got an more expensive one at the same time, also during Prime days, because I needed to reset the airbag light (damn Volvos). They probably thought I was drunk, ordering 2 different OBD readers at the same time. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
