I have 5 cams and the new plan saves me $17 a month over the old plan so to me it’s pretty awesome. But yes, you need at least 3 cams to make it worth while. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

lol, good thing nest secure never made it to canada, already discontinued, 2017 to 2020 rip.

At least they came out with a new thermostat so they are still coming out with something new. Will the cameras ever be refreshed, who knows. The nest indoor is currently 5+ years old.
New thermostat is only $179 which is much nicer then the 3rd gen pricing
https://store.google.com/product/nest_thermostat
First nest device to only work with google home app also.

At some point I'm going to regret the 10 cameras in my house haha.

Anyone having issues with their nest hello not sending push notifications? I tested both people and doorbell and nothing sent to iPhone. The events are captured just fine in the app.
Nothing sent to my wife’s phone either so I’m wondering if it’s something on Google’s end? The only thing I did recently was change the chime to a Halloween theme so gonna change it back and test again when I get home shortly. Would be a really stupid bug if that’s what fucked it up.
I had that, signed out of the app and back in, fixed

It’s Halloween. Their servers are slammed. Literally happens every single year.
Wait till you go to sleep and the alerts catch up haha.

Happy to have switched to unifi and have all local service
Speaking of Nest, anyone switched their ecosystem to Alexa/Amazon? I'm getting annoyed at the google services, having to yell at my google homes for them to recognize voice, having to reconnect my devices back to google over and over again

Mighty words from a system that only gets email notifications like it’s 1999.This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

I would expect server issues from a company like Wyze or something but not Google. Its also why I paid for what I thought was a premium doorbell cam vs a lot of cheaper options. You’d think they would know how to scale up on busy days like Halloween especially since this apparently happens every year. I didn’t get a flood of notifications even after signing in and out on the app yet so I’m not sure they are even queued up somewhere either.
I’m gonna try contacting their support and see what they say.
I don’t expect a lot of google these days, especially with Nest who’s been treated like a forgotten department ever since the acquisition. I’m sure one day I’ll regret jumping all in to Nest, but for now it’s the best solution in terms of overall usability even with its flaws. The Halloween issue really only lasts 5 hrs a year. Excusing them like it’s nothing shows how poor other camera platforms are today. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

Well shit, this ended up being an iOS issue and not google
Forgot I upgraded to iOS 14.1 the other day and did a quick Google and found other people having issues with notifications after upgrading. The weird thing is that I was getting all other notifications except Nest so I didn’t think it was an OS problem
All it took was a simple reboot of the phone and they started working again. I’m an idiot for not trying that in the first place, but will get in the habit of rebooting phone after every upgrade going forward.

Nest support is coming to samsung smarthings which is nice
https://9to5google.com/2020/12/08/go...g-smartthings/
Also will be able to control directly from samsung things like tvs and fat cat fridges
https://blog.google/products/assista...e-and-samsung/
Has anyone used a Nest Pro Installer or have any recommendations for one?
A couple of years ago, when I had my A/C installed they offered to hook the humidifier up to the Nest instead of the humidistat. Great! But it's not hooked up correctly. The Nest works great for heat except the thermostat is calling for the humidifier to run when the furnaces are off, no heat and no fan, basically all the time. This causes a constant flow of water through the humidifiers and wastes a lot of water, I have to go in to the app and manually turn the humidifier on and off. I need to set the thermostats to turn on the humidifier's water supply only when the thermostats are calling for heat, but I can't do this without a Pro ID.
Should be able to set that up without a Pro ID.
Mine worked exactly like this guide https://ohmefficient.com/connect-nes...at-humidistat/
That seems to have worked - thanks. It was set to Hum. only instead of Hum +heat.
Hello and welcome back to the nest thread
https://www.theverge.com/2021/8/5/22...ice-specs-news
Seems to tick the boxes compared to how expensive the products used to be.
New Products
Indoor/Outdoor Battery Camera https://store.google.com/product/nes...ttery?hl=en-GB $239.99. Optional plug in power with some type of proprietary plug and also the option eventually for solar. 24/7 recording is only when wired. Appears to cache recording with 1 hr without internet. Seems to be able to do more smart stuff on device without cloud.
Nest Doorbell Battery https://store.google.com/product/nest_doorbell_battery $239.99 Same deal like battery camera, but this has worse resolution than the hello and no 24/7 recording wired even if it is wired. Hello becomes Nest Doorbell Wired and sticks around, far worth the extra money it looks like.
Also there will be: indoor camera which is $99 usd which is basically a wired non weather proof version of the battery cam. Not in canada store yet, but available in multiple colors.
Outdoor floodlight cam, looks like the battery camera (Wired only though) stock on a flood light, not great looking but might be a good product for some. Also not in canada store yet but $279 usd
Nothing on the iq cams so those are probably dead as outdoor is gone and indoor is there but OOS, yale lock no change nor to thermostats.
Huh. Who knew nest was still in business.
