Seems like the kind of dumb ass idea Canada would come up with

They were close to unenforceable already in Canada.

Aren't they unenforceable anyways unless they pay you a monetary value for signing it (outside of salary/etc).

I think the majority of people who have to sign these shouldn't need to.
But Exec's shouldn't be able to just bury their old employer immediately.

The paycheque controls their behaviour. So if you want to continue to control, you continue to pay. You cannot stop someone from earning a living.

you can if they sign a contract agreeing to those terms. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
People should be able to sign contracts like adults. Get the benefits of the contract like adults. And suffer whatever consequences, like adults.
Govt shouldn't be involved in an agreement between two consenting parties.

But on the Devil's Advocate side... It's getting a bit like User Agreements.
I can agree with this. The few times I've seen it, it's been something the company attempts to spring on the employee late in the relationship, and without proper compensation, and relies on the employee not having proper legal advice. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. The law sides with the rights of the individual to earn a living in the vast majority of cases. I think it's about right. No government intervention needed.

Alpha male bosses tend to think that they cultivate betas by support through wages. Betas tend to think that they eventually learn enough to break free from the Alphas.
This ruling is a good move.
I personally think its stupid to have a non-compete as all it does is slow progress by either alpha or beta. Alphas tend to be selfish by requiring a non-compete, and overall is destructive to progress as a society.
Moral of story: Be Sigma.
NASA is truthfully untrustworthy
2nd job out of school I had to have a lawyer explain the non compete to me and witness me signing it. The company said there's a precedent of people signing and later claiming they never read what they signed.
Sort of like click through agreements.
Non Disclosure Agreements make sense to me, where you actively want to hide secret sauces before they are released. But to say again, non-competes are pure retard. NASA is pure retard, a self imposed retardedness by by way of laws, and has only slowed space faring technology.
I'd go so far as to say that any company that wants to limit human progress by hiding technology after the fact - should be sued and jailed. If you invent the wheel, patent the wheel, make 100 wheels for 1 billion people, and then say 10 years later that you force the engineer who designed that wheel to never give the plans out or to make any improvements on that wheel - its a crime.
NASA built 6 space shuttles.

The FTC didn't add a person's ability to work.
They took away someone's right to sign a contract.
If you haven't figured out the world since 2020, people must be protected from themselves. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
What the.....From fast food workers to CEOs, the FTC estimates 18 percent of the U.S. workforce is covered by noncompete agreements — about 30 million people.
Yeah, it's weird. They have like Subway employees basically say they won't work for Quiznos or some shit. It's mostly shitty managers trying to control teenagers on that end of the spectrum.

They're just given the standard contract. I don't think some manager is actually drawing up employment agreements.
