Ken Holland is da real MVP. Love that guy, and his predecessor. One of the best reasons to wear a flames hat IMO.

Very odd decisions coming out of Edmonton. I understand what Hyman brings, and Edmonton will certainly enjoy his immediate services but given his playing style, one would think this contract will probably not age well. And yet, it's still better than paying a handful of picks for Keith. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Seems to me this is a poor attempt at trying to "win now", and Holland is scrambling to make that happen before McDavid publicly asks for a trade.
Lol you're reaching pretty far with some assumptions from my post. I don't recall ever saying the Flames are a good team or that Treliving is good at his job (I thought he should have got fired before last season, and definitely end of this season). This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. My post referred to what the last 12 years netted the Oilers out of two 1st overall picks and a 22nd who was a good player. Zero. Where as you're referring to moves from 95/02/04 and ones that certainly had way less initial value. Flames kept Iggy too long, Kipper was unmovable and Gio the team was trying to win but 100% fucked up last years trade deadline. Ever since the Avs series collapse its been a mess.
Brodie same thing, the team was "competing" but I also thought not trading him that year was stupid. But I try not to come into these threads and just shit on Flames management 24/7, don't need to kick the dead horse.
And yes Spikers, I'm not holding my breathe for a Flames cup, especially not this year.
My armchair GM opinion. Fire Treliving. Trade JG to NJ/Phi/etc. area for assets before his NMC. Package Monahan with others to take a run at Eichel or someone good who wants out. Lucic you're stuck with for 2 more years and I wouldn't give up high picks to dump his salary. But otherwise Flames are in a situation with a major lack of firepower up front and AFAIK the farm depth isn't going to be supplementing that anytime soon. Get better at drafting
Re- Oilers and Hyman.
I don't mind $5.5 on a 3 year deal, that's good value and he will do well with McDavid.
the last 4-5 years of that deal will be rough.
Welp, looks like the Canucks just got a lot better than us now....
Woooot we finally dumped Erickson.
Oh yeah OEL is a good pick up too.
He's good, but it's a long contract. The retention helps. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
It's a big price to pay to become immediately competitive, and hurts the futures of the team. I would have preferred they just wait out the 1 year of bad contracts and suck it up one more year before making a push.
Add in a guy like Savard, and this is a playoff bound team for certain now.
The Vancouver Canucks will buy out goaltender Braden Holtby on Tuesday, TSN Hockey Insider Pierre LeBrun has confirmed.
Holtby has one year left on his current contract at a cap hit of $4.3 million.
The Canucks will have to place Holtby on waivers to complete the transaction.
Shark are buying out Martin Jones
Jones has three years left on his deal with a cap hit of $5.75 million per season.

Fleury has been traded to the Blackhawks and now he's considering retirement.

Apparently that’s basically how it goes with how close to the chest they keep trades these days.
For my wife’s cousin it was: Pulled and off ice during practice “you have been traded go shower and pack your things flight is in 2 hours”. Spend three days in Covid jail unable to do much as hit the gym. Then a call saying “you’re playing tonight” without skating with the the team once or meeting any of the coaching staff.
I guess you get paid the big bucks tp just do as you’re told lol…

His agent is Allan Walsh who is no stranger to stirring up shit for his clients. I wouldn't be surprised if he made that up.
^This.
His agent was the one who posted the image of the sword through Flower's back when they were using Lehner in the playoffs in 2020.
He is a major shit-disturber.
