This really shouldn't be that hard to figure out. I don't know why Buster is interjecting so much on something he clearly doesn't know much about? Viper never made a low HP cheap variant of the car, every model came with the 645hp V10 and was a direct competitor to ZR1/Z06. Sure you could get an SRT trim that doesn't come with leather for a few grand less, but that is not even remotely on par to the Vette being available with a 400hp basic V8 which is affordable to the masses for like 25k less than the cheapest Viper. When the Viper is selling similar numbers to the the ZR1, but there is more total Vettes made in one year than an entire 25 year production of Vipers, it isn't hard to figure out where Chevy's profit comes from on the Vette. It comes from the volume of the cheap models, of which Viper never had a comparable to.
I was an elected official of the VOA Western Canada Region. I've been to the Viper factory. I've been to Chelsea proving grounds. I've met personally with the engineers that designed the car. I've owned 2 Vipers, and driven at least 10 of them. It's fair to say I probably have a little more insight on the car than someone who has read a few Road and Track articles.
And there's the other piece of the puzzle. The marketing was pathetic. People didn't even know the car existed, and half the people that did know about it, still had this screwed up stigma about the car that it handled poorly and was uncomfortable. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. So back on topic. Anyone heard any more rumors on the Z06? I'm hearing that it will be twin turbo. That would be cool from factory. I'd be waiting to see if they solve the heat issues from the C7 though. I sure hope they come out with some sort of big Aero package. The looks of this car would benefit greatly from a big GT3 type wing and front splitter. Something like the Aero they put on the ACR Viper would suit this car really well.
