Wow.
Last year:
well, i hope at least they made access to the towers more difficult this time. Sounds like the perps had an easy time last time accessing the cable from one of the towers.
I would say that whatever motivated someone to do this one, would motivate them to do it again, and again, and again. Greenpeace or other ecoterrorists?

Maybe start with landclaims. I bet there are about two dozen.

Again. Man that's crazy!
Looking around
Wondering what became
Of what I once knew
Wow, company is probably still recouping losses from last year and it happens again. Hopefully they catch the perp this time.
looks like it's hard to secure because of wild life but I'd say it's pretty hard to secure something that's out in the open like that, especially when you have someone that obviously has some beef with the company/employees and is out for revenge. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. When less than 50 lbs of equipment is needed, and the area is several kilometers long, true security is nearly impossible. Just hope the perp slipped up and walked past rhe cameras somewhere and will at least be charged.

Last time they had the towers with easy access - ladders, etc. I hope they made it much more difficult this time at least (ladders locked off, etc.)
With the cable being many metres off the ground at most points, it would definitely reduce the possible cutting locations if the tower access ladders were locked up.

concluded that “the rope suffered a
catastrophic overload and fell to the
ground when the remaining intact wires
could no longer sustain the normal
tension in the rope.
What they dont mention is the wire bundle was cut through over 50% before it failed - ie a good safety margin.
