This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show QuoteDo you guys feel that mask non-compliance is the reason for the increase in Covid cases? People seem to have strong opinions when they see this taking place and i’m curious if there is a correlation between cases and non-compliance. I’m assuming that this would suggest that people who don’t wear masks, also have Covid? This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

I don’t feel anything about it. Was just making, what was to me, an interesting observation. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
All I know is there is a bylaw requiring masks in public places, and I noticed a cluster of people refusing to comply with said bylaw in a certain place. A bylaw that I have otherwise experienced pretty high compliance with.
I am not making any connections to coronavirus incidence or spread.

Exactly what Dr. Michael Burry and Dr. Ron Paul said back in April.
Does anyone have total death stats segmented by people who deserve to die and people who don't?
I think it's directly correlated with how tired people are of putting in the effort. So many people are on the edge of a breakdown in "normal" times, and this year has really added a lot of stress. I've seen some crazy shit in retail stores this year. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Just for myself, I have noticed that I clench my jaw 100% of the time I'm wearing a mask. I can't seem to stop that reaction. I suspect others have different physical and phycological reactions to masks and this "whole thing".
No idea about non-masking being a large enough segment of the population to increase overall infection rate. I don't have any stats to assist with making that conclusion.

we have mask compliance in stores thats 99% in my area (deer run) - even with 90% compliance on average (with a city of 1 million +) that should have noticeably affected the % positive cases about 2-4 weeks in Calgary, after the law was introduced.
This is not the case at all and those who were stating that it was just delaying the inevitable, were correct - and the government scientists, were wrong.
C19, like other respiratory viruses, is transmitted through mucous membranes, so your eyes are vulnerable. You are also at risk from improper hand washing - which is not promoted in our society.
@Buster has been trying to tell you that it's an endothelial and not a respiratory virus. Don't you all pay attention?
You clench your jaw, I clench my anus. My method works better.

This might be worth a discussion with the manager of these certain places. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

There are a large number of exceptions to that bylaw AND the city has specifically said they don't expect stores to enforce that bylaw.

even with 90% mask bylaw compliance in aggregate - ie. million people in Calgary - that should have measurably reduced the rates 2-4 weeks after implementation - and then DEFINITELY avoided the giant spike in % positive cases right now.
That was the whole fucking point!!!

I went to the mall the other day and would say I saw about 25-50% of the people either:
1) mask on their chin
2) mask with their nose hanging out
3) mask on their wrist
4) No mask in sight
We are getting worse cause a ton of people just DGAF about anyone but themselves and also cause people are tired and not being as careful as before (house parties/get togethers/playdates etc)

I’ve only been to Chinook lately but I’ve definetly noticed a bunch of non compliance and I would have expected the security guards to be the enforcers but even they dgaf about it.This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
The main problem is that the city tried to appease both pro-maskers and anti-maskers with the mask bylaw, and in doing so, made it only marginally better than no mask bylaw. It's the cowardice that is so endemic to politics.

Make it too strict and the anti mask crowd won’t vote for you
Make it too loose or not at all, promask crowd won’t vote for you
This way the council can sit back and let citizens blame each other

Curious about your perspective based on 1 million plus resident sample size, granted we can’t draw a strong correlation because we don’t have a perfect second universe to perform the same test, but I would expect with a large enough sample size we could get some understanding if the policy made by calgary city council shows any signs of impact one way or another. If the thought is that we don’t have a perfect comparison to another imaginary calgary where the mask bylaw never started, could we not draw the same logic that any other high mask associated region (ex. South Korea, Japan) can’t be used as a counter example as they too have enough differences from Canadian culture, mannerisms, etc. to draw any significant conclusion? This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. 100% agree, see which way the political winds blow, do *something* regardless of effectiveness, let people squabble about it. Cynical politics. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

Ask them to put a mask on and then say no problem once they get told by the person they are exempt?
See Crank. See Crank Walk. Walk Crank Walk.
Put one on or get out, if you have some medical reason produce a note from your doctor. There are clearly people in the mall, even whole families, that are quite ignorant that they didn't need to wear one despite the fact that there was signage everywhere and clearly it was the norm. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member.
