Default Coilovers + winter = Seizing

I know a lot of Beyonders have coilovers on their rides. The City of Calgary likes to do a 50/50 mix with salt and gravel. I was wondering whats the best way to prevent them from seizing.

Spray them with fluid film. There is a toyota branded film that you can buy at the dealer that works great.

Should I take it to a carwash and spray them down first?

I would use a brush to get rid of all the dirt (jack the car up, remove the wheels), rinse, let dry and spray the film

As Jaylo said do the best you can to get them clean. It's great stuff and can be sprayed over pretty much everything. I spray the completed underside of all of my vehicles that are winter driven.

Clean with a brush, slather in grease. Clean it up in summer.

I use a good rust inhibitor that is like a waxy oil film and it seems to work pretty well.

As mentioned use fluid film, or rust check (red can). Spray on top of the collars and let it sink in. Then the entire thread body, and wipe off excess with a cloth. It forms a very thin layer that protects from moisture.

Please don't use grease, it just creates a mess to clean up as dirt and sand stick to it.

Come summer ensure you clean off the threads with degreaser and brake clean on a rag before you try moving the collars up and down. As some dirt and dust will still stick to the fluid film.
