Default Honda Accord 6spd Manual Help

Was looking at a 2005 Honda Accord Coupe 6spd standard. I like it cause it was low kms and in awesome shape so i decieded to take it in to the local honda dealership to get it mechanically inspected.

I have that some honda people have had issues with their 3rd gear popping out so i specifically asked to make sure there isn't any issues when your driving the car. They came back and said nope the car is awesome.

I then go and drive the car and guess what happens...3rd gear pops out! I call the dealership back and explain to them the situation and they tell me that in their computer the owner complain about the 3rd gear before.

They are telling me out of privacy act they couldn't release that information to me even I showed my concern about the 3gear. BS!!!!

Is there anything I can do? If no recourse can be done through the dealership does anyone else with a 6spd accord have this issue?

    Thanks

You already know that other people with the 6spd accords are having that issue. I'm not gonna be able to post anything useful, but I will say that with the current generation of cars it seems almost all auto manufacturers have lost of art of building reliable manual transmissions.

my TL had to same issue, it was fixed under a tsb. I haven't had a problem since. I think it should be similar with an accord.

so I can take my car to the dealership, complain about a blown head gasket, and when a buyer brings it there for inspection the dealer will tell them everything's fine?

Yes i did my the car under the direction of the dealership that they thought the car was in tip top shape.

When I drove the car home today it didn't really do any popping out if i force it into third a little harder then usual.

Has anyone used GM synchomesh or should I stay with Honda MTF?

Previous owner is calling Honda Canada for me. He had told me that he brought up the issue with Calgary Honda before and they kept telling him its normal.

there was a honda bulletin back in 2008 acknowledging the issue and from my research SOME Honda dealerships are fixing it.

Hopefully I'm one of lucky ones.

As for Calgary Honda I would never go back there again.

I've used Synchromesh in a honda 5 spd that was having harsh engagement on 2nd gear. So far I'd say noticeable improvement but not total fix. been in there a year. I replaced the honda mtf with oem again first with no result.

ive work at a honda dealer and presently at a acura dealer. there is a bulletin for the 3rd gear update on all 6spds. whicn includes the v6 and k series motors in the civic sir. if you call honda and complain they may good will the parts and the dealer with charge you the labour of the repairs. replacing the fluid will not fix the problem, stick with honda mtf.

Parts are peanuts for the fix its the labour that is 90 percent of cost. Honda Canada is currently looking into my situation and seeing if they can help.

Hopefully it all works out in my favor.

I booked my car in with a local honda dealership for the second time for them to finally determine or "diagnose" my problem to be related to the TSB to only come back with message from Honda Canada saying they will not fix it.

These is BS! For the longest time no honda dealership even knew there was a problem due to the lack of 6spd's sold in Canada. I dont know why this was never a recall.

I'm going to try to write a registered letter to Honda Corporate as I feel this is a safety issue that Honda will not man up to.
