Default is this Costco shed illegal in Calgary?

    (without permit)

    http://www.costco.ca/Lifetime%C2%AE-...100179092.html

    154 sq feet

the reason why i ask is someone in my community is really really picky and complains about everything but i always red bylaws first, as she complained about my TV antenna on the roof ...

    city of calgary shed bylaw
says if it large than 107 sq ft but the shed not habitable

A building permit is required when:
The overall area of the structure exceeds 10 m2.
    The building is habitable.

Would you think the parcel coverage percentage is ok even with this large shed?

All buildings exceeding 10m2 need a building permit. I dont know why the city is say only for habitable structures? Its an Alberta wide building code. We do them for any shed larger than 10m2 regardless of habitable.

Development Permit will probably not be required. At least it wouldn't in my municipality. Whats your zoning?

That shed is basically a single car garage. I had no idea they had HDPE sheds that big, wow!

I really want that shed but I don't want to assemble it. We've been looking at it for years. Would free up so much garage space, I could fit another bike in there. Laziness is the worst.

I think the bylaw is read as a permit needed for anything over 10m2 OR anything that is habitable (even if it's less than 10m2).

    It's a "temporary structure"

How do you think that beast would handle the load of a big wet spring snowfall? I'm guessing not. Would prefer traditionally framed shed.

The pitch on that roof appears to be steep enough to not be a problem. I have that cheap, wavy plastic as a skylight in my metal shed and it held up just fine over last winter - with the wet snow.

I put one of these lifetime sheds together at my grandparents place, real simple to do and pretty sturdy.

The 8x10 one has a lot of room as well. Get 2 8x10 sheds OP
