According to most O&G guys on Beyond, there's no possible way anyone's job in Alberta isn't affected by O&G downturns, if they're screwed, we're all screwed.

No and no. O&G producer, but we run super lean and basically cancelled additional planned hires.

Of my buddies, one has been laid off, two likely will, and a fourth thinks he might be as well. Two of those are at producers, one in O&G indirectly service related, and one not at all O&G related.

Lol I work in the heavy oil processing equipment So VERY much in O&G... locally were dead, but production elsewhere in the world is expected to quadruple in the next couple months... now were adding two more shifts to make up for it.

No layoffs in the absolute least.

Voted yes and yes. O&G service company. I think so far it's been guys they've wanted to get rid of. I think they've "laid off" some old guys who were close to retirement too, but I don't know if that really counts.

In a services company, had 2 big talked from the executives about cost saving measures, but no word of layoffs. Some producers have started cancelling projects with us, and our workflow is looking non existent for the near future.

In a service role surrounded by oil field service guys. Lots of their friends either aren't working, on their last job or hear of their office guys getting laid off.

We're the first ones to bear to shitstorm and anyone working right now is feeling lucky.

    Yes and Yes.

I'm still working but I'm now single man working 24 hours. Took a pay cut. And charging 23% less travel time to accommodate a lower project bid.

Work for a large E&P. Yes and yes, but don't see it happening in my department. For once it's actually 'good' to be in Downstream!

Met up with CompletelyNumb last night for a beer, and almost this exact idea was floated. Swap Nicaragua for Thailand. Seriously considering leaving to somewhere cheaper until oil comes back.

I lived very well on the beaches of Lombok, Indonesia for a while on about $15/day.
