iPad Pro 12.9 should be here on wednesday. upgrading from an ipad 3 from 7 years ago
If it's the 2018 version, check if it's bent before you keep it, many people have reported them bent straight out of the box. The most common place is actually on the shorter sides, not the longer sides. Apple says the bending is "normal" and is a result of their manufacturing process, so you want to check it inside your 14 day return period to avoid having to pay an Apple Care fee for a factory defect. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. I also suggest getting a case on it with some structure, as they appear to bend very easily. Tempered glass screen protectors also remove touch functionality of the screen unless the device is electrically grounded (plugged in, or if you're touching the metal sides). So consider a film-type protector if you use screen protectors as they do not have that issue. I still use a tempered glass one because the film ones don't play nicely with the pencil but it's slightly annoying to be touching the iPad at all times.
The new iPad Pros, is there a way to do split keyboard? Was looking at them for a potential upgrade, not ready to switch to USB-C yet, FaceID is nice, but it looks like the split keyboard is completely gone.

There isn't, sadly. Completely removed all together for the iPad Pro 11 and 12.9 inch models. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

Very slowly, yes. The 2018 iPad Pros both use USB-C which is so much better and it can also power a small device now, such as an external hard drive. Two way charging is also possible. It's perfect for me because I can use all of my normal accessories now with a simple $9 OTG adapter, and my phone also uses USB-C. I am down to 1 cable type for just about everything I charge often (iPad, Phone, drone controller, etc.) which is amazing and has cut my travel clutter down significantly. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Rumor has it the 2019 iPhones will be USB-C, but that rumor was also circulated for 2018 and did not end up happening.
Cables are so 2018

I don't even care about the cost, make it just as expensive or go back to charging more for thin and light, it would just be nice to have a something smaller.
If they went edge to edge on a iPhone SE sized phone it would probably have the same real estate as an 8 anyways.

well this is a first for me - just had a genuine apple power brick fail. I've collected a few over the years so not sure if it's from my latest phone or if its one of my older ones.
does anyone know if apple would replace it as part of AppleCare it if i say it's the one that came with my phone?
I imagine for something as simple as a USB wall wart, you could waltz in the apple store and they'd probably just replace it NQA, without any proof of purchase. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Looks like some significant updates to iPad OS coming down the pipes:
https://www.apple.com/newsroom/2019/...gned-for-ipad/
A much needed latency reduction on the pencil and some extremely basic features (finally) being added to the files app.
One thing I don't see is the ability for the iPad to run background tasks (like a movie export) without the screen on or while another app is in use - that is currently my biggest annoyance. Hopefully that is fixed.
Regardless, it's nice to see them starting to separate it from the phone OS.
Good on the ipados since sales seem to be getting stronger after weak sales of tablets the last few years. My favorite part though was them adding swiping to the keyboard
I wonder upon breaking out the different apps from itunes, will they make them available on android/androidtv, especially once their streaming service begins.
I needs me that Mac Pro, but 5kUSD is crack money

$6K USD is for the base model with a tiny hard drive - it'll be a lot more than that with a better spec, likely well over $10K USD. If it ends up like the iMac Pro you can build a better computer with a way better display for around half the price. You can option it up to over $19,000 CAD which is almost unbelievable. Apple Care remains only $199 though which is quite reasonableThis quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
