So upon some more research Koodoo also does not offer stand alone tablet only data plan. It's ridiculous.

So far, the only option I have been able to figure out if Cityfone Telecommunications that offer tablet only plans. Cost is $20/month for 4GB if you sign a 2 year contract and they give you a shitty little tablet, or $18/month for BYOD BUT then it's only 1GB data, which is for sure not enough.

My only choice so far is doing a contract with them and getting the 4GB for $20/month and basically just storing away the shitty little tablet they will give as I doubt it's worth much.

Get an American unlimited plan that offers service in Canada.

No phone number so no matter.

Check on RFD for the Fido workaround.

People have been signing up online for new accounts to get a Fido account number which they use to get the $10 tablet plan. They never activate the original plan and just use the tablet plan.

Others have just gone into retail stores until they find an employee willing to do it for them as a non-customer.

Chatting with Freedom - they say they offer data only plans for tablets so waiting to hear on what options they have.

Is Freedom good for coverage? They have a $15+tax plan for 4Gb tablet only data plan. If they are good for reception mostly wherever cell phones typically work, then I think I will sign up for that.

It was very underwhelming. Nothing new really on the ipad front so I will likely stick with my second gen until it dies.

For $15, they are supposed to give you a shitty LTE Android tablet every 2 years.

As for coverage, they are decent as long as you are using Apple or Samsung devices. But if you ever use your tablet at edge or outside of home zone, stick with Rogers and Telus.

I think I’d like a new 16” MacBook Pro. But tbh I’m ok with waiting for them to get it right / being out something meaningful.

Great thing about Apple not announcing anything; there is nothing for me to waste money on.

WWDC is all about software most of the time. Sounds like @Buster finally can join the blue bubble gang.

FaceTime calls are also now supported on Windows and Android through a browser, the first time that FaceTime has been supported across platforms.
Sounds like Apple starting to leverage iMessage to branch out and turn it into a social media network.

I wasn't able to get it anyway. On the chat they never mentioned anything about signing up for a contract and when I said let's go ahead with it they took my info and due to some additional checks on my account they said I need to go to a physical store. Since there is one right by my work, I went in and the person said there is no month-to-month plan without a contract just for the data. I would need to sign up for a 2 year contract. I ultimately decided not to and I guess I will just hotspot from my phone and use the 25GB I have for it.

Little silly having a cellular tablet but it was only $200 more than regular one so I won't bother returning it or anything.

The only argument against hotspoting is that a lot of apps become a lot less chatty when it's on LTE. But if u are not burning thru your 25GB, it's probably not an issue. Just beware of apps on your tablet that's set up to prefetch media while on wifi (podcast, songs etc).

Dunno about you guys but when my iPad “hotspots” it automatically enters a “low data mode”

Green bubbles have had that for a decade. I feel like we only got that in iOS 13.

Spatial audio is cool but it seems more like a gimmick than anything.
