It's still a little dumb though.

So if I take a payout on my overtime immediately, I get time and a half, if I bank it, then decide a month from now I want the cash, I only get "time".

Who is this hurting or benefitting enough to put in their platform?
Banked overtime is a HUGE issue for government, its a massive liability on the books. Additionally, gov employees that already get tons of vacation time off already are then forced to take the time off or have it paid out.

I'm perfectly happy with the decision. Its very difficult to run a company when your employees aren't around. The gov gets bitched at either way and employees grumble regardless.

If its not affecting take home pay, hard to argue against it. It does take away flexibility, but there is only so far one can bend before something breaks.

has to steal from the poor to give to the rich. The gold standard for Kenney and his ilk. Same as his healthcare, social, infrastructure, stimulus spending and so on.

Don't blame me, it's how people vote. Fuck it's how most people interact with each other every single day. A good face on a bad policy will win over a bad face on a good policy.
Yes exactly, it's how people vote, just like Buster said in the first place. There's a lot of people that don't understand economics or the functions of government.

You get straight time for banked hours............................................ If you have under 40 hours a week on the period you get paid out for it. So part time people is the only ones it stands to hurt. But I'm also curious myself why anyone would work this into their party platform in the first place?

Anyone else get polled? First one i've had for a Canadian election (I vote in the US as well and every election get multiple poll calls).

They called my mobile #. Oddly enough the same polling company called me about half an hour after i completed the first poll so not sure what's going on. I can't remember the polling company name. I believe it had "street" in it, but definitely wasn't main street.

Given the people who are most upset by Kenney, he apparently is doing something right.

I haven't got a phone call or text or anything at all so far.

NDP is campaigning on serious spending. People without any fiscal restraint are eating it up.

You seems to be in the know. How does Kenny is going to replace $1.7B-$2B of revenue on his proposed tax cut? And still balance current $7B/year deficit in 4 years?

So where is he going to find close to $9B of savings?

From what I can read from UCP's platform, if we get back to hay days of 2015, tax cut will generate $1B more than it is now. So there is still a $8B deficit.

Not saying NDP is any better in this front, they just spend, spend, spend.

2 way to look into this. We didn't raise anyone's taxes in Calgary, and we still have a $230M deficit because businesses left because of oil price crashed.

So either a) revenue is going to drop anyway regardless it's 8% or 12% because nobody wants to play here or b) increased tax actually reduce our potential deficit.

Unfortunately, I don't think there is enough data to prove either point. Just like what unemployment could have been if government were cutting instead of spending last 4 years.

I like (C) Cut services, control spending, postpone projects until we can afford them.

I got called to if I would support my local UCP candidate Rick. Then I was asked if I would not mind having a flyer put on my lawn. I explained I live in a Condo. The poor girl on the phone did not know what to say.

I got a text asking from Progress Alberta asking three questions. The first was a lengthy question that ended with do i think schools should 'out' kids who join GSA clubs.
I just found it disturbing the way the questions were formulated this way. They are to trigger an emotion rather than to generate a discussion.

Then I got another text asking if I supported Rachel.
Its interesting. I have never experienced this. Is this a Alberta/Canadian thing?

When various pipelines get instantly approved upon a successful UCP election win.

This is exactly it. Imperial didn't stop the Kearl expansion due to money, they stopped due to the gov. Pretty simple. Companies need a reason to invest here. NDerP isn't even a neutral option, it actively drives away investment. Hence why they must go.

Just by cost growth constraint, some cuts here and there, and getting our resources to market, our deficit will disappear pretty quick.

Reduce our oil handicap to only the cost of pipeline transport, we'll be rollin sooner rather than never.

I just ignore electionioreering and the platforms. They're fantasy bullshit documents to give talking points, but are not an indication of actual policy. The actual plans are squirrelled away in secret.
