Well, the Dems certainly dropped the bar WAAAAY lower for an impeachment. Obama basically spent 8 years waging wars that Congress had not authorized, and they didn't impeach him for that.

Yes they had. They’d authorized it through the AUMF which was enacted by Congress when Bush was president.

    Congress hasn’t authorized a war since 1941.

They didn't impeach him over the interpretation of that, however.

Why would they? It was a Republican congress for most of Obama's tenure. Republicans love wars.

So do Democrats, as we saw.

They might have a reason to impeach a president for conducting a war that was beyond the scope of the authority they had given him, sure. It's certainly a GOOD reason.

    Such short memories.

The impeachment of W Bush was also begun during his time in office. But the majority of Dems did fuck all, even with all the atrocities that happened.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Effort...George_W._Bush

The accusations were extremely serious, in comparison to what supposedly happened with turnip man.

There's always random talk of impeachment for every president. Here's Obama's:
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Effort...h_Barack_Obama

fact is though, most Representatives are fairly reasonable people so even if you have 100 crazies who want to impeach on borderline stuff, the rest of the reasonable people will not because they know it needs to be solid. This is exactly what happened with the Mueller report.

It needs to be serious stuff to be confident you can garner all the votes needed to impeach otherwise you look very silly.

No it doesent, as the dems have a) proven here and b) ignored the serious accusations for W Bush.

The Dems dont give a fuck about looking silly, they have all the corp. media behind their crusade to make it look legit, and they are just smearing turnip man at this point.

George Bush impeachment didn’t go far because it wasn’t the popular opinion. At the time, the general public was blinded by patriotism both on the left and the right, so it didn’t really matter as to why US invaded Iraq. It was necessary to remove the evil that was Saddam. America was not divided in going to war and turned a blind eye to the fake weapons of mass destruction narrative. Anyone voting to impeach Bush would’ve been political suicide. Anyone vocal against Bush was toast. Look at the Dixie chicks. Today? Musicians can blast or praise Trump, and still be popular because of the divide.

The aligned WH and deep state control the media narrative extremely well - which translates into horseshit opinion polls and talking bobble heads.

They will rant about a complete joke of a case (turnip man), and yet ignore flagrant stupidity and misconduct by others.

If turnip man is impeached, along the same balance of probabilities (he has even admitted to all this) means Biden goes to jail.

This just goes to show that this is all theater.

I used to enjoy US politics purely for the theatrics. It's a popularity contest, pure and simple. Nobody cares, but the drama is hilarious. It's why I wanted Trump to win, for the lolz. Only problem is, the media figured out this is the most profitable story, and now it's just too much of the same shit regurgitated, desensitized and boring.

I agree. I couldn’t find anything more boring than a story about Donald Trump these days.

Some people however (TDS types) are full on obsessed.

Dumb waste of time and resources. Democrats are going to lose in 2020 and will somehow be surprised again.

I definitely think he has a fragile ego and it does get under his skin. But so what? He's still President. Now he just has another thing to brag about defeating the democrats on, and more conspiracy fodder to fool his supporters with.

Even if they were successful, what do they think is going to happen next election when everybody who voted for him feels like they got cheated out of their choice of president? I don't want to see the guy who gets elected by a retaliation vote.

So I guess Bernie will get a shot. People always love a whiner on the way in, but rarely want a whiner to actually lead. I'm not convinced that the USA can do left of center socialist - the nation is literally built on a populace of guns=right. Asians can do left of center because... Well, Asians.

Interesting thought. We all know which side has more guns, would be interesting to see what the crazies would do if they think they got cheated.

    Interesting idea from the mooch:
    https://www.msnbc.com/am-joy/watch/t...ys-75507269861

Basically he thinks that all it will take is 4 senators to join the democrats and force McConnell to run a fair trial including calling 4 key witnesses, and that would cause Trump to fold and resign.

    Why would trump Fold?

Congress already had their kangaroo court and couldn’t come up with anything concrete or factual. Couldn’t convince even 1 republican in the house to approve articles of impeachment.

Takes 2/3 of Senate to convict, never going to happen.
