Anyone feeling depressed and overwhelmed by the constant barrage of bad news from media and politicians, here's some objectively good news data.
Deaths from Coronavirus are dropping very fast, even with rising raw case numbers. Probably due to the protective effects of the vaccine.

Not gonna lie, that’s not good news to me. It’s yet another indicator the govt doesn’t know wtf they are doing. They don’t care about what matters (deaths), and are locking us down based on the wrong metric (cases).
I wouldn’t care nearly as much if they didn’t effectively ruin access to tee times
I am not trying to make any kind of political comment today. I jist know a lot of people are feeling this unbearable unceasing heavy weight of all the bad news. Tryna put out some fact-based good vibes.
Hospitalizations should drop in a major fashion soon as well.

I should say for the data nerds out there, that there's something wrong with the canada-wide hospitalization numbers, they aren't tracking that right, either an issue with the website, or the govt data, or something. Not sure. But daily NEW hospitializatoins has dropped quite a bit as well. Total hospitalizations will be dropping soon for sure.

I was gonna say... If it's zero, we should be setting fire to the legislature. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Something is definitely wrong with that.
Canada will always find a way to prolong this nonsense by using whatever metric they can - deaths and now cases. I don’t think restrictions are lizard-man intentional but it’s more so incompetence by our public servants and listening to experts that fit their doomsday narratives. God forbid any reaction other than lockdowns, curfews and restrictions on random things be exercised. The only way out of this is mass defiance of government policy, we aren’t there yet and I doubt Canadians are that confrontational. Media pushing out daily numbers of cases isn’t helping either, it’s freaking out simple minded people who are easily influenced. Canada is fucked.
Well that graph was daily new hospitalizations anyway, so it's no surprise to see some zero days. But I think there's a data reporting issue with that line. The deaths line is looking more legitimate from a trend standpoint. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

So, I found something out last week. I was in a course and got chatting with a classmate (teams environment, wanted more info but conversation got trampled on) and he mentioned his daughter working for AHS at the royal Alexander in Edmonton. He mentioned they’re seeing the strongest attrition they’ve ever seen. It solidified my belief that nurses and staff were taking additional days off and stress leave. What he said next blew me away - nurses quitting was at an all time high. Quitting, imagine this - where are they going to work? He said his daughter is on the breaking point too. About to quit.
So there is that, union is probably breaking down the door. I often think how a proper private sector in addition to the public would have handled this pandemic. Would we have had less restrictions actually leading to higher adherence and Incidentally equal to or lower hospitalizations?
Future studies will be really interesting.
@ExtraSlow I like your approach to good news. We all need it, my contribution is we’re going to crest 2 million people with inoculations by around Wednesday. It’s looking a lot brighter at the top of this hill. I can see the other side and it’s all an easy downhill. Let’s hang in there for another couple few weeks. Also - cheap beer beyond meets should commence this summer again!

Yea being asked to take care of sick people is a terrible inconvenience for a career in nursing…
What’s next? Finance guys going to get upset about having to use spreadsheets?
