West Jet is now allowing free cancellations, not just flight re-bookings. They also said they are disinfecting every plane between flights including galleys and tray tables.
Only for the month of March, travelling in March.

Anyone read through their CC trip cancellation policies as it relates to all this?

Planning on booking a trip for a wedding in October, just within Canada nothing exotic, and wondering if I’m better off booking it now while things are presumably cheap or waiting until much later to book JIC.

Quarantine and a written formal travel warning are covered reasons in addition to emergency medical conditions so the whole situation should be covered.

What worries me is the clause for exclusion of “cancellation when you are aware, on the effective date, of any reason that might reasonably prevent you from travelling as booked”. I mean I am aware of Coronavirus, does that count? It’s not a good reason not to go as of now but it might be in the future. Curious on people’s thoughts.

You should check if there have been revisions made and snuck in. Trip cancellation in general is already vague and not that great to begin with; this outbreak doesn't help the cause.

How though? I tried calling and it literally told me due to increased call volume they can't put me on hold. Website won't let me change either.

I recently spoke to my insurance about this. Basically if at the point of booking there isn't a formal travel warning, but at the time of travel there is, then it is covered - it would need to be an "avoid all travel" type warning. That being said, I would either wait till later....or book flex or a refundable fare.

I did the redeye into Halifax once (only direct flight) to meet some clients. Ended up finishing our meetings and getting drunk. Ate a donair at 4:30 AM someplace, and stumbled home bumming smokes off of college broads puking in the gutter. Took a shower, and headed to the airport for the flight back at 7am (only direct flight home). Slept the entire way, probably smelling like garlic and who knows what...the flight attendants said they were worried about me when I actually got up to piss before landing.

    Fun time.

Most buffets sucks anyway. And I believe it's only MGM resorts so far.
