My mum is getting her second dose next week. Pretty pleased about that.

We aren't getting doses in arms fast enough to keep up with supply. There's nothing to feel guilty about, particularly with the risk profiles changing with the variants. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
We're at the point where if you can get the shot, but don't, is when you should be feeling guilty.
Regardless, of guilt, I don't need to worry about it any longer, pharmacy decided to cancel my appointment that was for tomorrow and I don't know why since I filled out my pre-appointment details this morning

If it's a Moderna pharma, they are getting shorthanded big time on their shipments, so a lot of appointments getting cancelled. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
It was yes, however the booking system took my appointment and made it available to someone elseThis quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

Unfortunately, the new case numbers are going up quickly too. We've now surpassed the most daily new cases we saw in the 2nd wave, and the upward trajectory isn't showing any sign of tapering off. I sure hope the warmer weather drops case numbers like it seemed to last year because things *could* be looking pretty grim if we can't get people vaccinated quicker than this. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. I’m fairly certain we hit 1800+’in our wave 2 peak but this number isn’t far off

Unfortunately AHS has fucked up the vaccine rollout probably worse than trudeau fucked up the vaccine acquisition.

I'm curious as well. I was anti AHS/UCP for the rollout last week as we were ~20k doses a day and falling behind but lately we've been hitting 35-40k doses per day which is pacing our supply almost perfectly. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
March 31st: 635/700k doses used
April 4th: 650/875k
April 7th: 755/1070k
April 10th: 847/1210k
April 14th: 1000/1210k
April 15th: 1044/1445k (though moderna was delayed; I think it's not actually 1445k yet)
On one hand people will claim '400k unused doses, its a failure!' But when you look at the progression all doses are being used up about a week after they land. Given it takes time to filter from the province down to the pharmacies / vaccine sites and then time to actually get into arms that's not really that bad. We've used all the doses we had on hand last Wednesday and at 38k per day (what we've done 6 days on average) that puts us at 1.31 million doses used which is all we had on hand yesterday, plus 100k.
So while I was a skeptic a week ago how well they'd pick up the pace; I do think AHS has shown they can step up and the rollout is going quite well now.
Did you know that 75+ in many rural areas still have not gotten their shots?
Probably more important that "unused doses" sitting in inventory is how many get thrown in the trash and not into someone's arm. Don't think they are publishing that, but does anyone think that number is substantial? It'd be easy to calculate in hindsight once this is all over, but I don't think the published data really works to figure it out.
Lots are tossed out because people aren't showing for appointments or are booking multiple places with no intention of going to all of them.

Did you know that many of those rural areas would still vote Wild Rose if they could? They don't want the vaccine. They are special like SpurtEL.
We're talking about "following the path of Christ" and "dinosaurs are a lie" kind of shit.
Only Pfizer has short enough lifespan to get tossed out. None are getting tossed, or very little anyways. The waiting lists and people randomly showing up are massive. Moderna and AZ have a much longer shelf life. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Our jabs vs deliveries gap is mostly AZ. It’s open to only a small age group, and they don’t want it.

Heard that nobody is showing up at the convention center because they are administering AZ. They are ready to do 7k per day but the age restriction and bad press is scaring people away. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
I think they should just change the guidance to male 16+ with 0 restriction for AZ if they really want to clear the stock. But as someone already mentioned, that's sexist.
I heard that too, but there was easily 200+ people in line when I went on Wednesday. They had room for more people in line, but all the vaccination stations were occupied. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
I think that's was day 1. CBC had someone on day 2 or 3 and basically 3/4 of staff are doing nothing. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
People who knows math and qualifies like my buddy probably already got theirs from local pharmacy which are all walk-in at this point for AZ.
Open. It. Up.
If people still wont get vaccinated after that, we open everything else up and move on with our lives.
